Thread: Garbage Droid!
You get all the crap that is preventing your crafting tool from spitting out the finished product into your 100% full inventory + back pack, and cram it into this mechanical oscar in a trash can, and it recycles the items back to the original rescources that were used to initially create it.
This droid would also be useful to help clear the myriad of cdef pistols, fireworks, chance cubes, and other noob crafted crapoff of the public vendors.
What do you think?
Or has this been suggested before?
Good idea.
TM.
Well, I guess I was assumeing too much, I thought that the gamekept track ofwhat specifictype of rescource goes in to the object because of theserial number, like when you make something in a factory but I could go with what you are saying also.
It would probably have to be a rule that you only get like x percentage of the rescources back because if I were crafting a speeder and I got a critical failure upon experimentation, then I could just recycle it and remake the speeder until I made the perfect one.
First, if this recycling happened on only a single item at a time, it'd be hard to justify spending the time first not practicing (and losing some xp because of that), and then recycling 30 or so advanced droid frames (for example).
Here is another idea: What if higher quality crafting results got more xp than just using any-old resource and not experimenting?
That'd change the dynamic of grinding quite a bit and would be a further incentive for people to not use recycled resources.
I still like the *IDEA* of a recycling droid, but there are definately issues to be worked out.
Thanks,
TM
The only reason SOE would not implement this is one main reason: Grinding is a money sink!.
SOE gave you the option of not having to craft "garbage" items, it is called the practice option. You do not have to craft what you consider "garbage" items, but remember this if you only have Pistol I then a DL44 pistol is a major upgrade from a CDEF pistol. Just because there is a higher level item out there does not mean the lower level items are junk.
Yes grind items are next to worthless, but there is a market for these lower end items.

this is a a good idea. I laughed when I read this because I just began crafting things. And yet I plan on selling my noobish Items on the bazaar. I wouldn't create half this junk but since I have to for xp, then so be it, I'll sell it to a noob. I'd rather get back recycled resourses for them though.
3 CPU is pretty standard for "normal" resources on Ahazi. Good resources (at least 1 stat over 900) might go for as much as 5 CPU, but that's because they're good. Truely elite resources might sell for as much as 8 CPU while they're still available, but that's very rare.
3-5 CPU is quite reasonable, really. Spend an hour running Artisan missions and anyone with a survey tool can easily make 20-30k. There's 1000 resources for you right there. If you have some higher-end combat skills, you can easily make more money than that by running destroy missions.
I'd hate to see resource prices on Ahazi fall any further than they already have... that would wreck the economy.
Ok, I see where you guys are comming from.
How about this then....too keep the money sink around, mabee you have to pay x amount of credits to the "Galactic waste commision." Just like you do for useing the ticket vendor in a startport or shuttle port. As far as a market for lower items, I would think that it cant be all that big cause most of the time people have a friend that has played for a while and they just craft them cdef weapons and craftingtools and what not for free. I have done this for quite a few noobs that I have met to get them started.
It is just a thought, I am not picky about the specifics to get it to work in the game, so if you guys can figure out how to get it to balance in the game and it be a useful droid, then I am all for changeing around how it actually works. Just trying to brainstorm on more types of useful droids.
Grinding isnt necessarily a money sink (it isnt unless its harvested).
I really like this idea. I think the best use for this would be to make NEW material not currently used, and use that resource for faction base maintenance. Maybe assign it BASIC component levels like organic or inorganic. So basic diagrams could use it too.
THAT would solve the economy problem and still be useful.
That would be a truly kick ass idea.

Dang that is bad a$$, I didnt even think of that?! That would be awsome!
Other games have let crafters recycle items into reduced amounts of resources and reduced number of resources and that seemed to work well enough.
The question is if recycling most items wouldproduce enough resources to make it useful for people to even do it.
