Well looks lke the *ahem* droid invasion is upon us (almost)
I've already started to receive 'can you build a battle bot' /tells
So even though i've enjoyed my (helper) tag and my searchable status. (if AP XP wasn't capped i'd have a couple of mill by now)
It look like it's time to drop the Helper and searchable status...
So how many of you are going to join me and secondly what's the worst /tells you've had?

I'll start..

Can I buy the biggest and most expensive droid u got and what does it do?

(I was so tempted to give him a BLL and charge him 100K for it)

nah, I'll send out a mass email to all my customers (probably close to half the server) and just answer everyone else as they ask, I don't mind too much.

No way am I going Unsearchable. I actualy enjoy educating people about how abused our profession is. May a few of them will actualy voice thier oppinions to SOE, like we do here.

Lol, why am I not surprised to read this. Self satisfied to the point of 'all is well and the world is rose filled'

You are a damned hard worker Jenden, just hard to like

I'm going undercover immediately...if others can face the embarassment thats fine with me, but I am damned if I am going to tell people over and over about R2-Dalek

Why would I go unsearchable? I get "can you build me a battlebot" at semi-regular intervals anyway. I love helping out the most clueless customers, because they go away knowing way more than they did, and hopefully with a bit of mechanical help for their day-to-day game experiences.

I will say though, I told a RL friend that R2-D2 had been modded with a turret, and he nearly had a stroke. Got all red in the face and huffed for a while. I kept the cell phone and 911 close at hand. Keep in mind, this wasn't even a hardcore Star Wars fan, just somebody who saw the movies. Some folks take the literal approach real serious like.

But no, no way am I going to go unsearchable. If I were ashamed of the profession or the product, I'd drop it and pick another one so I wouldn't have to be unhappy and angry all the time. Can't account for anyone else's taste.

To be honest, I haven't been searchable for quite some time. Around the six-month mark of being a DE I started to tire of keeping a big smile on my face while I answered questions for 1/2 hour to every person who asked. I have a half-dozen "informative" emails I have to send to people, but even that didn't cut down on the amount of time I was spending in-game explaining droids.

My sales come from several high-profile vendors on different planets - I stock that and do special orders usually as favors by e-mail. Most of my regular customers are educated regarding droids at this point, though - but I sure as h-e-double-hockey-stick put my time in with my MDE title up, sitting in a Cantina with my Protocol, making 5 droids at once for 5 people sitting around me and talking to 5 more people in tells asking questions at the same time, so I don't feel so bad for not being quite as helpful (and available) anymore.

However, I still doalways send detailed, personal answers to anyone that takes the time to e-mail - just polite, and I can do it on my own time (i.e. when waiting for starships).

I don't think I would ever drop my MDE title after that horrible grind to get it. However, if the hybrid plan is adopted I might run around with "Droid Tactician" under my name just to be cool. Wow. That would be something DE=cool.

Heh, update

Now that the Armour rating is gone from Droids, I'm going to go sit in the bottom of the Droid cave and have meaningful discussions with that mad old Droid Engineer, commlink off and disconnected.

My, its going to be an interesting day.

you guys need to help out the people that have purchased droids from you in the past, because it was like they had pity on you , buying those crappy droids all this time, probots with 800 hams is junk, last good droid you could build was the pre-nerf probot....now will be your time to step into the spot light, the DE will finally start to move towards his place in the SWG universe, you should be thankfull that people will be emailing you with excitment over the new droids you will be able to make, first impressions are everything in the buisness world, of course you will have to explain to some people, probly some kids about what droids are the best, but those few inconvences will be outweighed by the happiness you will provide some of these people, to turn your back on people just when interest in your proffesion will be at its highest again will hurt you and alot of nice people out there that just want to experance the cool new combat ready droids you will be able to make....i was a master ch when mounts came out and i know for a week there it was tough filling all the orders, i was running around taming peoples pets for mounts for free for like a week, and giving newbies free mounts and it was cool , i didnt start charging untill later on couse i was losing my azz taking shuttles to meet people for mount training....lol, Im a master bounty hunter now and iv bought a ton of tracking droids off a few DE's i know, and i tell you if one of these guys went unsearchable on me or didnt take my email if i was requesting a new combat droid, then i would never buy another thing from them or their venders.....but thats just me.

I'm not hiding. I want buyers.

I plan on being as ready as I can be (resource-shopping, crating, etc.) so that I can have things ready to roll next week or so when this is pushed.

I'll probably do a write-up and just forward it via email to anyone that mentions anything. Drive them to my vendor. Voila!

....if only it were that easy.
