Thread: What ever became of the New Droids...

We were told of new droids being added in the Droid Invasion publish.

My question is why werent new droids added?

I understand that they added new functionality modules, but that does not qualify as new droids.

It looks absolutely rediculous to see an R3 kicking the crap out of Mobs in this game. They are not a combat droid.

This is something that has been irritating me for a while, and i came to you guys to find out what is going on.

Thank you.

The Devs consider the 'Super Battle Droids' as fulfilling this 'promise' for new droids...

Sad, but true.

They did tease us with the 'Blastomech' droid picture though, which was expected to be released by now.... But we are not Jedi, so don't expect it before Space.

Yeah you are totally preaching to the choir here bro. We would like to see more style of droids but like our fearless correspondant said they arent going to come til after JTL.

Even then it wont probably happen until long after the Smugglers get their publish.

The bottom line is that the devs consider our profession fixed. For the most part they are right except for our top five issues and various bugs that need to be hotfixed.

Anything else is gravy.

New droids would have been part of the addition of the Droid Commander profession, or some other system to introduce higer level droids. Due to production changes and an out cry from the DE community, additional utility modules were added in place of the new droids. A few publishes after JTL is released should include new droids and maybe some new droid artwork as well, but the new droids will more than likely be added with the Droid Commander profession or some other type of system to accomodate the increased droid levels.

Hum,

Excuse me, but bug wise, DE is still the profession number one.

I don't know any other profession that have a number of bugs even close to ours.

I'm not talking about things that need to change, I'm talking about plain bugs.

As for the new droids, They are in the Bunker.
Others will be added when the DEV will make what they wanted and add yet another profession copy-pasted from CH and named Droid Commander.

EDIT : And I also don't know any other crafting profession that need to write down a manual for each of their product to allow their customers to be able to use them.

Heh. Well i'm not denying that we have our problems but we are far from the most buggy profession.

The pistoleer profession has about 10 "specials" and only 2 of them work.

The bounty hunters mission terminals dont even work half the time. Post a friendly message in their forum asking if there are any bugs and that thread will swell to 400 posts in one day.

My point was that we have had two publishes recently and my opinion is that the the DEVS perceive our profession as fixed or nearly fixed compared to other professions who have not had a publish.

I believe that ou can judge the health of a profession by looking in its message board here. Are there alot of bitter threads or threads asking to nerf other profs here? Nope.

Now go and skim through the BH, dancer, musician, smuggler, merchant, artisan, and entertainer forums.

We have had two full publishes. Realisticly, our profession is not going to get another full publish until all the other profs are taken care of. The only way that we will get added content over the next one-year period is if they "hotfix" something, give us content via JTL, or if it enhances another profession (Droid commander included).

Just my 2 credits.

Well I don't know another profession that has products or things that there Iteams do that are as Veried as ours. As Far as Bugs are consernedI have a question do you have a vendor other then the Bulky one you get at Busseness 3 if you do acording to the Merchants you are an explotier they believe that there profession MAIN "product" is so massivly bugged that it verually destroys the proffession. We accually don't have that many major bugs anymore. I think the Talking Droid bugs and Maintance Droid bug is about it.

BTW there was 1 new Droid added though it looks like an old droid the Interplanitary Probe Droid(limited use DZ70)

Tailor for exemple have more variety in their products.

And I have 2 non bulky vendor, because I'm merchant with advertising 4, allowing to be ablt ot use at least one of our new modules.

Bug wise, I think I don't have the same standard of quality than most of people here.

while i would love to see some new droid types (i'm dyin to have a droideka), i'm happy with how the DE profession works right now.. its not perfect but a heck of alot better than it was at launch time. when i started playing i was gonna be a DE, started working on it, and found out the prof was basicly broken.. then after the Droids rebuilt publish, i decided to start working on it again. Jus mastered a few days ago.. and its sweet.

I would have to say it like this. The devs do not care about droid engineers. They lent their attention our way cause we made a big stink, and now thats gone. I have been a droid engineer since the game went gold. I am not impressed, nor do I sell many droids because its not worth it. Half the components we experiment on, have no direct meaning in the finished product. Changes to devices are not documented in the crafting process. Part A experimented up to 87% or tossed in there at 26% it still relies on the fiberplast you use for the chassis. Droid brains for instance...what is the point of experimenting a droid brain? can anyone tell me this? Oh hey a motivator...you mean..if I don't experiment my motivator up I will have a lazy droid?

Droid engineering sucks, we supply bounty hunters and thats it. Well, I twiddle my thumbs, that helps pass time.

Seriously, it will be another year or at least 6 months before the devs take a look at droid engineer and say "what the crap was I smoking?!".

Wow, I can't believe so many people are so bitter about our profession.

Yes we have a few bugs, not really that many though. Other professions have more. Our main problem is no resale market.

I can't believe that people want experimentation on every single part to matter. I say hell no to that. We already need a lot of resources, quality ones. If experimentation mattered on EVERYTHING, then you would need quality resources there as well. Droid quality would drop, as would the number of resources we have available. We would want to raise our prices to compensate, less people would buy droids, then we would gripe about that.

Be careful what you ask for.

I don't know what your smoking but I sell 2 or 3 Droids a Day, and while with the exption of combate droids they don't have much resell value I do have repeat customers, I personally beleave I see very few BH droids considering I did my only full factory run of Probe Droids around pub 7, and my Only Seeker run around pub 8 and still have lots of both(I am near Cornet not many BHs hangout there) but I still have more then enough credits and am far more prospous then I have ever been. If you Don't have confidance in you product/chosion profession then maybe you should try a differant one

Oh and Gavvot last I check all Cloths did was cover your body and MAYBE though not neassacraly give you stats(BTW there is a manual on this part). I said there FUNCTION veries not the Product itself (there are what 11 Chasis in DE Not counting BH and IS droids) BTW my talorance for bugs is WORKS AS INTENDED, and guess what there are droids that don't Mantance, and Talkers. If it works as intended but not asyou beleave it SHOULD its not a bug the problem is that you jut don't like how they impemented it.
