Why, oh why, can't entertainers have more than one entertainerdroid called at the same time, and why can't droids built purely for entertaining be called whileinside a cantina, hotel, or theatre? It's not likea droid band could exactlygrief anyone or spoil anyone's funby playing too many musical instruments! My idea of SWGheaven is to be able toplay a gig with5 back-up droids. I'd alsolike to be able to call the droidswhile inside the venue. Is there really some reason why droids built purely for entertainment can't be allowed to do these things? Or is it just a holdover from potential griefing that combat droids could be made to do?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

You can't call droids in Public Cantina's because the devs decided to penalize everyone because some people abused the privelage.

15% of the players used to be CHs and they would call their Rancors and Grauls in the cantina, which was very annoying.

So they nerfed ALL pets indoors, then nerfed CH so less than .5% play it now and everyone suffers.

SOE's policy for griefing player tactics is topunish everyone, always has been, always will be.

Well, I guess it could have been worse. I suppose I could have an entertainer droid that wasn't allowed in a cantina, lol. Now that would be really bad.

I remember the pets in the cantina days. That was an annoying time, and I'm glad they fixed it to some extent. But I wish that whenthe developers fixed a problem, that theywould just fix the specificproblem rather than making a blanket'fix'that nerfseveryone. For example, they surely could have made onlycertain pets not be able to be called inside structures. I mean I know they're rushed off their feet with all the changes that are happening, but surely they're just making more work for themselves in the long run with this ham-fisted approach.

Actually I'm really glad they nerfed CH. There was a time about8 months agowhen this game seemed to be becoming more like Beastmaster Online, rather than SWG. Right now it seems pretty balanced in that regard - creature pets are rare, which is how it should be. Now if droids were a little more useful, and a littlemore used, this game would really start to look like Star Wars.

you can get some droids with multiple entertainer modules installed but as far as i know you can only use one of the modules at a time.

If you're a Musician, you can use both Ent. Effects and a MusicianPlayback module at the same time. I'm doing it right this very second.

i'm not an entertainer, but from what I've seen in the way my customers use the droids, if the droid is set to cycle through the modules, the effect of each module to overlap as it transitions from one to the other.

Yeah, but that's not really what I'm driving at. The modules aren't the issue. I don't see why we can't have multipledroids so that each of them can play a different instrument and be a part of a band. I think it would be neat to have 5 droids in a band.

nobody can have multiple droids out. but you're not the only one who wants to do so. I assume they're limiting the number of droids we can have out for combat balance purposes, because they don't want players to have multiple combat droids out. And they appear to not have the development resources free at the current time to add code that distinquishes a non-combat droid from a combat droid when tracking how many droids each player has out.

I'm not asking for people to have the ability to call multiple combat droids. I'm asking why entertainer droids should face the same restriction.

They should limit the number of droids you can have out based on the modules they have loaded. They should not limit every single droid type. I know that's extra programming work, but hey, they have the capability to do it. Why restrict us in this matter when far more complex things are being added to the game with each new publish?

i'm not defending them, but the answer is simple: because more people want the things they areimplementing in the gamethen there are people who want us to be able to call multiple non-combat droids. /shrug.

I am sure that it might have to do with the fact of lag. Can you imagine if every entertainer in the cantina used multiple droids? It is already laggy enough in the cantina's without having 20-30 droids in there as well. I hope they keep it the same way as it is now, 1 droid per person. If you want to have 5 droids grouped and playing instruments, why not ask other entertainers to get theirs out?

Hmm. I guess I don't suffer from lag - at least not in the cantinas. It's about the only place I have noticably less lag than the rest of the game. Anyway, the places I was going to take my droid band would be out-of-the-way theatres and cantinas. No point in bringing out a droid band in Theed or Coronet. They'd just eat up battery power for nothing.
