I know it's a touch on the silly side, but I actually think this would be kinda cool.

Anyone seen/tried one at all?

Anyone else have anything similar that makes the cool list?

I'm kinda thinking it could work out well as a "Kids!-get-back-to-bed" sorta thing (set it to patrol with the IR motion sensor on right outside their room).

Nope. But it rocks anyway.

That is, if the head sensor doesn't throw fits. Mine did work last time I used it as a Nephew Amusement Device.

Alway funny to make him do the Imperial March.

If i remember correctly its between 1'-0" to 1'-6" tall. It's porportioned right and the box was heafty, so it was decent investment. I couldn't get one wife wouldn't let me. I could try to find one and get it for my 3 year old. you think that will work?

15" in height, as stated on the sche....*ahem*...."blueprints".

Yea...gotta keep those sensors clean and make sure no one's smoking around the little bugger, I guess.

Alway funny to make him do the Imperial March.

It seems there's like 5 songs that it plays, only 4 of which are documented.

Maybe we'll see if there's an R2 2.x released at some point.

I'd like that. I have done all the secret songs... it's fun making him do the Tango... heck... my mother recognized it as the tango.

I like how they stated that it's an "Industrial Automation" product, paying homage to the SW mythos. I actually name most of my mass-produced astromechs starting with that.

Unfortunately, it is gone, and unless re-released or someone decides to part with theirs you and I will never have one. I checked every single retailer listed, and none are in stock and it has been discontinued. I also checked E-Bay, and found only one at the current bid of

$127.50with2d19h22mleft on it at the time of this posting (if you want to search for it do "electronic r2-d2 interactive" to jump right to it). That is something I sadly cannot afford even as much as my 3-year old would love it as well.

HOWEVER.....

To add to the list of cool stuff, I did find this (clicky). This is available several places. I'm gonna do my damndest to get one for my kid this Christmas
