Thread: Droids: 1 Spineflaps: 0

So my friend wants to place a house in front of my cantina in our player city, only problem is the cantina is RIGHT on the city border and there's a natural spawn spineflap lair (labled insect hill) just outside, making a no build zone inside the city. No big deal, spineflaps aren't too difficult for a medium level combatant. Problem, I'm a master dancer/musician/entertainer, one of the others I'm with is a master dancer/tailor/merchant and the third member was a new entertainer about 2 or 3 days old... none of us had novice marksman or brawler much less anything more advanced. What we did have was:

  1. 1 Probot with item storage, 1 combat module, and 3 auto repair modules Stats 3104HAM 110-116 @ 0.78 wtih a auto-repair of 55

  2. 1 Probot with item storage, 3 combat modules, and 1 auto repair module Stats 3136HAM 144-151 @ 0.77 with an auto-repair of 18

  3. Crate of droid Stim-C's 1360/28

Since it was a natural nest not a mission nest it had an abnormal number of spawns, normally 5 per set includinga queen, a guard, a soldier a handmaden and some other spineflap. I know the soldiers had about 4.7k HAM queens had more I didn't check any of the others. All told it was about 15 of these spineflaps against 2 probots. After a very long and drawn out battle the probots came out VICTORIOUS!!! One probot (mine) came close to incap during the fight but managed to run away before going down, only 30 droid stims were required to keep them up and running (thats uses of droid stims, 1 stack with 2 out of another).

DROIDS RULE!!!!!

On another note, if you all know any entertainers in your galaxy, make sure you hook them up with a droid that will get them thru extended combat such as this. Yes Probots with a combat rating of 550 sounds SUPER, but in reality it will die MUCH quicker than my one with a combat rating of 100 but 55 auto repair. If you go without item storage you can get AR up to 74+, and since the first combat module adds the most to the combat rating, adding any modules over that kinda weakens the droid. Esp if ents are out together and all have droids like this, had the second droid been AR of 55 like the first I probably would have had to use half the droid stims, had our 3rd friend had a droid like the first one, probably would have needed no stims at all...

You guys definitely have the hardest crafting profession out there (well BE's are up there too with thier pets...) Not only do you take a ridiculous amount of subcomponents and components in general, there's litterally millions of combinations to chose from, anyway, thanks for making droids that rock

Thank YOU for bringing such a great story on how droids do have value. To quote Mr. Clapton...

Yep, thank for the story.

I hope that this gets around. This shows just how useful a droid can be to someone who's not out in the field reguarly...

Eaca thanks for the suggestion, I will try to make a few for us on Flurry

I don't know how many real Entertainers we have in Flurry, but expect a limited run of those up in a few days.

One day last week my guild leader said a smugg remark to me, I replied with one of my own and he was like "Want to take this outside?"

Sure thing, I told him. I broke out my 542 Rated Probot and he broke out his generic-combat-probot-by-noob-DE droid.

We dueled and let our Droids do a battlebots impression. My droid hadhis down in moments. He starts shooting at my droid while its widdling his down so I break out my hammer and pitch towards him. He incapped me after my droid incapped his. Then I give the /tellpet attack action on the guildleader

I get a message shortly after that my droid chased him out of the guildhall and into a public house where it proceeded to incap him quick fast in-a-hurry

Awesome story. Just another reminder of how not everyone out there is Jedi or TK and that together we make a fun and unique world in which to play. I also have no combat skills and my factories always seem to have red aggros around them. No problem i just pull out my Fixer(Probot ) and he clears a path.

Well, its not a perspective that we think about often. Players who have no combat skill at all seem rare but it's nice to know that they're out there and they like our product.

With no combat skill they really actually needed the probot's speed and damage, not just a HAM buffer that the R3 auto-repair tank provides.

Now i feel good about the 'Paladin' version of the probot that I stock (and have actually sold a few units) with 2 combat and 3 a-r (219 combat/60 auto-repair). Now I know who buys them

Having zero combat skills is definitely the way to go! Everyone should buy a droid (from me) now and drop their combat skills!

(I have no combat skills myself and my droids have saved my life on many many occasions!)

I have combat skills (Novice Pistoleer) and my droids still save me more often than not. I use them to clean out aggresive mobs that wander into my town and haress residents and customers.

I solo'd a Fambaa on TC with mine. I mixed it up a tiny bit but mostly I stayed back and watched the DoughBot get busy.

Note: This wasn't an AR Tank model but a 'Combat' (damage) version....

I never leave home without my Obliterator Probot bodyguard. With no combat abilities, I quite often need to clear lairs so that I can drop harvestors.

Mine is of the 5 combat modules type though. I like the damage. I do have 1790 droid stims though, with 43 charges, so he isn't going to go down easy.

I don't have anything more than a basic handling of carbines in the marksman tree.

I was out running that critter mission out of Bestine to get that Endor Painting for my junkyard and the last part was the Dune Lizards.

I sent in the R3... vs 5 Dune Lizards and me running in circles screaming. After about 10 minutes... we walked away battered and torn. But we won =)
