Thread: Droid Enginner: Why do we have to get so many xp points to level????
I am sure this has been brought up before, but if it hasn't, it should be now.
That being said, Why oh why do we have to get such high amounts of XP in our class to advance to even the first tier of Droid Engineer????? Does anyone else other than me think this is completely insane?
Mouse droids give around what, 147 xp a pop? And i have to grind (yes, grind, no one wants a useless MSE droid) to 48K to get to blueprints 1!! I am beginning to wonder why they just didn't hang a sign over the class that said "We really don't want you to level but i guess we have to let ya!"
I for one am beginning to wonder if i made the right choice in DE and if it is worth it to waste tons of resources on it.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to make the grind easier, please speak up.
And if you think the xp we have to earn is insane, please sign below and bump this. Maybe it isn't too late to ease the xp burden on a pretty nerfed class!

Yeah, so Architects technically need more xp ...though they get ALOT more from each build item (less clicks). Anyway, as a comparison took me maybe 4-6 hours to get the first level of DE, only took me 2 hours to get the first level of arch.

You've got to be kidding, right?
This profesison is not for the faint of heart. It requires dedication to be a Droid Engineer. Make peace with the hardships or get a different profession. The last thing this profession needs is someone else crying that it is too hard.
The only changes to this profession are going to be the ones that the Powers That Be have decided upon. If any of those happen to correspond with changes suggested by players, that is just a great chance for the PTBs to promote what great customer service they have. In reality, it's like calling a request into a radio station - "your" song will get played when it comes up in the rotation. If it happens soon, then you get to feel special.
(is it just me, or have I been bitter today?)
I think that considering how broke and worthless the DE profession is, the xp requirements are too high. My DE profession is on hold and I am working as a weaponsmith right now. The xp requirement for each level of the WS tree is roughly half of the DE tree. I levelled in weaponsmith in half the time it took to level as droid engineer. The very first box in firearms crafting gives you the schematic that you will grind for the rest of your WS career - projectile rifle barrels, whichcanbemade with only one incredient - steel.
The xp was balanced around the rate people gained xp in beta. The problem is the speed they were judging was people grinding advanced droid frames. So from novice up everything is balanced to account for the speed you can grind advanced droid frames.
If advanced droid frames were set up differently it is very likely we would have needed less xp to level.

If this is all that bothers you right now wait till you get up the tree's.
grind mouses till you can make advance frame units.
an irate BH just brought this up to me:
Being able to make Seeker Droids but not Probe droids is worthless... because BHs need to use a probe before they can use a seeker...
in other words... we can't do anything
If you have the dedication to grind out the 400 MSE's to the next level, then you've proven your dedication (translation: insanity) to this most honored of all professions.
To dispell some myths:
-MSE DO and I repeat DO sell with or without anything in them. Granted you might only sell 10% of the ones you grinded, but there are people who still wants them. I've sold them ever since I made novice DE and I'm still selling them. Ones with stuff like medical1 I've sold for 500cr and the ones without for 250cr (not much profit, but i don't care).
-I've sold seekers right from when the patch gave us the schematics to craft them, even though at that time I couldn't make the probes yet. Though I think some of my sales have gone to none BH's who didn't know better, however, I have had no complains. Plus, floating around like that they make decent decorations and signs too. I have one in my shop named "Please email Acked for you custom droids needs"
Just to note that I don't do false advertising, when I sell those MSE I make sure I put in the description that they serve no function.

Reynolds, you can make Probes at BP3 and Seekers at BP1. Bounty Hunters do need both, but they go through Seekers fast than Probes, or at least that's my understanding...
Go with blueprints first to get tier 2 so that you can get advanced droid frames. The exp with droid frames is about 480 exp (not exact number.) You can earn about 10,000 exp with 3,000 steel and the corresponding amount of fiberplast. With a medium harvester, you can get about 4,000 steel a night in a good spot, and you can earn around 10,000 exp a day per harvester. Put down more harvesters, the more steel you have to use for your exp grind. And don't worry about the quality since you're using the steel for exp grinding.
