Thread: A possible compromise between REAL DEs and Holo DEs
Howdy Folks,
I started visiting a few days ago after getting my 'Cron, only to be embroilled in some debates about them.
To the REAL DE's, I understand you're angry, and I also think you have every right to be. I for one am not a fan of TH and his Spin Doctoring, and can see why he exasperates most of you.
But instead of yelling at 'Cron DEs who come in, maybe something a little less incendiary is warranted.
Have your Correspondent make a post, call it "Holo DE's, how to grind and get out." Post concise, simple instructions, sticky it, and forget about it. That way anyone coming here for such info will have it right there, with no searching required. This will save you the aggrivation. And if they STILL post, you can light 'em up with a bit more confidence.
Oh, and just an FYI, I didn't plan on Marco-grinding. Figured I'd try it first.
/sigh
And once again he's one-starred.
And the one that was stickied was kinda rude, don't you think?
I think you crazy kids just want to be bitter.

I have not commented on that sticky thread yet, but I agree with you Monekynaughty. The idea of that sticky post is good, but the tone throughout the thread is not conductive to anything except more arguing. Irealize most DE's here are bitter and edgy (I hope I'm not one of them!), and I can also see their frustration with holocron chasers. And I doubt most holoer's are trying to screw up this profession or any other profession deliberately, since their single goal is Jedi. If just the straight facts neeeded by holo DE's had been posted, without any semi-official color commentary, the benefits of that post would have been much more obvious.

Distilled DE bitterness is the secret ingredient in my morning coffee.
The reason it upset me so much is the fact that these Holo DE's didn't even bother to look at the first page of these boards before posting. One Holo DE posted the question, when there were at least 2 posts on the same subject on the first page. You want to make a compromise, at least look at the boards before posting, sheesh....
/puts some more DE bitters in his coffee....
well, the reason your given a slightly "rude" sticky post is simple if you think about it. There are 3 or 4 professions that are so broken they are virtually useless as a profession, and frustrating to continue month after month, wither being promised changes are ont he way, or to be ignored entirely.
youve hunted down a holo, so you should know this already, the DE is the one of the msot broken professions out there, and the people that play them are some of the most hopeful players in the game.
now, you have gotten a holo, so you have read the board before, you are not an idiot. there are plenty of posts with vasrious macros that all look the same for grinding a crafted item, this applies to droids as well, if you need anything, it would be what exactley to grind, and that has been answered.
now why would the DEs be slightly rude? well for one, all this has been said before, it is there for you to find, but you need to read like the rest of us how messed up this profession is. and second, we have put time, energy, hope, blood, sweat and tears into playing a profession that is fundementally star wars, and we walk in a sea of **edit**, that would do it. the thrid and most important reason is this: your not going to stick around and hurt with us, your going to grind it and abandon it, your not here because you love the profession. So you are an outsider and the sooner you get your macro and leave the better.
in this case misery does NOT love company.
hope that answers your question, hope you make jedi soon, and hope you never have to ask again.
guess to the devs it is a dirty word
Powergrinding sure sounds like fun. Try actually playing the game instead of power-leveling so you can be a jedi. Take your time with the game, you might actually enjoy it.
IMHO I think that anybody who has a holocron and power-grinds should not be allowed a FS slot. I think that they should have to suffer like all the other crafters and try to make a business and keep it running for months, as they move up the skill trees.
OK, to keep from this being a flame fest -
HoloDE's - realize that to us "old timers" on this board, DE IS our Jedi profession. It is what we bought the game for, and we love the profession. We have spent countless hours working in game to earn the money to grind, countless hours in the grind, countless hours explaining to customers how droids work... it is not an easy profession to actually play, but it has it's rewards. THroughout this, SOE has lied to us, nerfed us, and made unfuffiled promises about good things to come. We do not like being trivialized to a stepping stone on the way to an FSCS.
If you make an effort to search for what you need (the advanced search engine is not that bad....) you will probably find it. If you have a question about the profession (e.g., why don't two crafting mods work in the new R2 unit I just made), that sort of thing, I think you will see, will get a prompt and accurate response. Questions like that show that you are actually playing the profession, not just grinding through it as fast as humanly possible.
Finally, realize that the Holo thing hit right when it was revealed that fixes that "were in the pipeline" won't bee to us for at least 3-4 months, and the "plan" SOE has come up with ignores 90% of the player posts that have been made over the months.
DE's - I do think we need to chill out a bit. It really isn't fair to vent our anger at SOE on these guys... as long as they don't derride our profession, go sell advanced R3's for 1000 credits, or fail to read the FAQ's posted at the top of the page. I am not saying repost The Macro Of Doom for every HoloDE who asks for it (and I notice that no HoloDE has posted a macro yet, either... the ones that came in to ask for it came in, made a post, and left, without providing any feedback to their HoloDE bretheren).
If we help em understand the profession, it might get us some support on the main boards. And remember, the origonal point of filtering the HoloDE's was to keep the boards from turning into flame wars, rants, and repostings of that **edit** Macro of Doom.
There... I've done it... I've set myself up for flames from both sides.... .![]()

But, if you look at my very first post here, I didn't ask for a macro. I said hello, and that I might like this. I wanted to try something different.
But yeah, after the reception I got here, I'll be power grinding and going away. You guys can stay martyrs, I'm going to have fun playing a game.
