Thread: Did they nerf Adv Probots and Adv Protocol droids?
Cluster modules were only supposed to go into slots designated for clusters, not general socket harnesses.
This makes sense, you can look at the progression of number of mods you can put in a droid adn the complexity of a droid:
One module:
MSE
DZ70
Power
ADV Power
R5
R4
Treadwell
Two modules:
ADV MSE
ADV DZ70
ADV R5
ADV Treadwell (WED)
LE Repair
Surgical
Probot
ADV Protocol
Thre Modules:
ADV R4
ADV LE Repair
ADV Surgical
R2
R3
Five Modules:
ADV R2
Six Modules:
ADV R3
Nope, you're an evilexploiter. sorry. turn in your droids and report for reeducation. the computer is your friend.

You may now start your new business of selling droids with intended capabilities, rather than super-amplified capabilities.

Well, when I was crafting these droids, the schematics showed that they could take a module cluster, and it even said "module cluster". Now the same schematics only have the wording "module harness" in those slots. Oh well, I guess there are a bunch of evil exploitor droids running around on my server now. The sad part is I didn't make any to keep for myself. I'm glad my trusty R3 still can take 6 stations.
I do not recall the probot ever saying cluster - it always said harness - and I am pretty sure my recolection is correct, as I have always been careful to not exceed the theoretical limit, so to speak, on how many modules I put in a droid.
Welcome to the real world Exploiter. You screwed your brother DE's who were building droids the way they were supposed to be built. Now that you can't exploit every friggin droid you make, you are on an even footing with the 95% of Droid Engineers that didn't take advantage of a bug.
May all your droids rust in pieces.
Way to miss the issue in your rush to pour out bile. Please pick up your sign at Foxworthy's place.
Did they change the name of the cluster, I don't even see the schematic anymore.

Actually the exploiters, who people were carping about, were the ones who were nesting general clsuters *inside* other clusters...to make up for the absence of level6 modules by craming lots' of level3 and level4 modules into droids.

Your full of sh*t. If it wasn't an exploit, it wouldn't have been fixed in the first place ! The schematics plainly say cluster module or socket module. Probots and MSE's WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO HOLD AS MANY MODULES AS A MASTER MADE R3 DROID GOT IT !!! ??? You are either another one of the exploiters pissed off that he can't screw his fellow DE anymore, or you have been dropped on your head too many times as a child if you can't understand the problem here.

You can argue bug and exploit all you like, but at least that featurelet folks make different droids bodies with different capabilities. This made it more interesting and fun for both the crafter and the buyer. Personally I think this "fix" makes droid engineering pointless again. If you limit modules by body type then everyone will only want the one body type. its bad enough that there is only one combat droid. This makes for a very boring game and a very boring crafting experience. Droid engineering should be closer to what Bio Engineering is now. The number of modules that you can stack in a droid should be based on your droid engineering skill and not the schematic. The body should be independent to allow you to build any body. There should even be a combat module so that any droid body can fight. By doing it this way, customers can have fun in chosing various bodies and the crafter can have fun making different droid bodiess. It also gives the advantage on customizing i.e. engineering to the higher level droid engineers. Sadly now the only thing folks will want are R3 and Probots.
This exploit allowed a DE with the skills of a 3/0/0/4 DE make items as powerful as a Master DE. Joe Blow DE could exploit this and screw customers by saying level 6 storage when it wasn't. TH posted that this was an exploit quite a while ago as well.
Sadly you don't get the point so let me try to clarify. The point is droid engineering shouldl be about mixing and matching various droid modules to different chassis in order to promote variety in crafting and in the droids that people buy. I agree that the stacking of like modules to imitate higher level modules did not make sense and was a bug. What I don't agree with is not allowing the general module socket clusters to be used in the droid harness slots. The reason is it takes the fun and the "engineering" out of droid engineering. You have all these nice modules yet most droids can now only take two. Before you could get at least get six modules installed which made for more fun crafting and also made folks enjoy specing out a droid with varioiusoptions and most importantly having the freedom to pick different chassis. Now the only thing people will want to buy are R3's and probots. And the only modules they will be able to fit are medical modules and one craft modules (90% of the time is chemical). No more repair modules, item modules, data modules, etc. It used to be nice to tell folks pick what you like or can afford and as a master droid engineer, it can be built. Now it will be sorry you only get 2 unless you want an r3. That is not what engineering is all about.
If you read what I wrote, you will see that I merely proposed what droid engineering should be like: the ability to mix and match modules and chassis with the level of the droid engineer dictating how many modules can be stacked in a chassis. That way the Master Droid Engineer is the one who can make the best and most useful droids.Customers couldalso choose what they want or coudl afford. And this would encourage more variety to be out there and reward those who are more advanced in the class.
Unless there is some improvement in the long promised droid engineer update, this change will drive customers away from droids even more.
