It appears that the CH profession will be the favorite class on Sony. They have made up their minds that in SWG... Pets are more common place than droids...

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=46180#M46180

It looks like they got more/clearer answers than we did.

I think that CH should have the better pets. I don't think that DE's should make droids that are stronger than a CH pet. Or if they do, it should be a Master Droid Engineer type. I just think that the combat droids should be effective support fighters.

Well seems thier post count is high on that board than almost any other. All the DE's have surrendered skills and became CH's since their the favored profession.

I thought I caught the foul scent of jealousy as I walked in. You can't compare CH and DE and still remain healthy. You'd be better off combing your hair in a wind. CH is very controversial and getting hit by the nerf bat over and over which would account for the high number of posts in their forum. Don't worry, I think every profession is gonna take their turn in the barrel. The dev's are gonna fix and nerf all professions as we go along, depending on what they need to have done to them. Besides, anyone can have a pet now *and* a droid. They each have their own type of functions. The pets are quite limited as to what they provide - transportation and battle. Droids have a much wider range of things they can be used for. But sofar there isn't a "battle droid" profession so until there is you won't find a droid capable of being as powerful as a creature.

I agree that CH pets should be more powerfull for combat, but right now I think they're just a plain joke for combat. As a Bio-Engineer who doesn't even have Cloning 1(string that gives me my creature schematics) I can already craft pets better than a probot with no permadeath.

Creatures should have the battle market cornered pet-wise. However, I think droids need to be much more usefull for support and utility purposes. As that is the inherant purpose of droids. Maybe allow droids to do chores for you? They have Load-Lifters afterall. Program the thing to run to your harvesters each day and unload them for you then take them back to your bank. Have him take along your protocol droid that can operate the harvesters for you and deposit maintenance/power or change the resource. Make surveying droids too so the 3 can go. The load lifter unloads the hopper to take back to town, the surveyor surveys the area and can take samples to see what quality it all is, and the protocol droid programs the harvester if needed. The owner could do all of this remotly by buying a droid communicator like the one C-3PO uses to communicate with Luke on the death star.

This change alone might make DE a viable class once more.

Uloa, thank you for that link. I never go to any other board but just wanted to check out the difference in responses.

WOAH!

Their answers to thier questions were soooo detailed. And almost every one of them was responded with "I'll fix that" or "That will be fixed this week".

That is just so not right. Compare, not the questions themselves but the way the questions were answered, with ours and it is so clear that the Devs dont have our interest in mind at all.

well i would say dont care about CH, and dont call nerfs on them.

better look into DE and try to find ways to improve the proffesion, we must not be like CH, but the proffesion must be usefull and fun to play. if all proffesions are nerfed down to the combatabilitys of DE´s that would be way strange game than. The way to balances is to improve and make weak proffesions stronger not to nerf and take stuff from players that lvld months to get this

if droids just get stronger its no use for DE´s as anyone can use all droids, so we should look to get some benefits for our proffession like controlling multiple droids at a time and remote control and stuff for DE´s only.

I have to say i like that last post. It would be nice to use more than one droid at a time or getting some profession related perks.

OK wienerboy... it what Star Wars movie did you ever see someone's animal pet overpower a droid? All I ask for is an even battle between top level CH pets and the best DE attack droid... CH gets 3 pets, droid should be 3x stronger than their one ... hell with it, go focus on pets that are such a big part of the SW universe... just forget about droids, the devs have.

the reason a top level droid will never == a top level pet is cause to get a top level put someone sacrificed 106 skill points, to get a top level droid someone forked over buku bucks.

Actually i am not a creature handler at all. When they add in the cert system and people need to spend skill points to get powerful droids, then its possible for them to be able to compete with CH pets but as it is right now if you had gurreck or graul powered droids joe bloe noobs gets one from his guildie at cost, joe bloe goes to dantooine, joe bloe is unkillable and completely unbalances the game.

I have come up with a way to (IMO) make everyone happy.

The main problem we DE's face is the fact that there are ch's and ch/be pets. We are always in compition with them to sell our droids over there pets -- why don't we make our droids work on a different system then the pets so they can't be compared.

Here is my idea: First off the bars need to be changed, we will keep them all but they will represent completely different things -- The red "Health bar" should be changed to represent a droids integrity(sp). The green "action bar" should be the droids power level. The blue "Mind Bar" should represent the droids sheilds if any (I have taken spices before and when i got the downer effect I had no health bar left -- so I know it will still funtion with out any sheilds, or a 0 mind bar).

The best way to explain my next idea is to put it in a battle situation. Lets say you have a Droideka (DE Master Only) out on the field -- I see it as being made with heavy weapons and sheilds but shouldn't have armor over AR1(maybe Armor mod2) (look at it -- fast an manuverable with heavy weapons -- not bulky with armor). Now we'll say that it was made with the top components -- Weapon module 4 (made by weaponsmith), armor module2 (made by Artisan or DE), and shield module 4(made by armorsmith). Also construction of the parts would be esential -- each part would have duribility and effectiveness with little things added depending on the component (ie. Weapon sections would also have a damage mod)-- the higher the durability the more duribility it has (100/100 or 1000/1000), and the higher the effectiveness the better it works -- say you experiment on a motavator to 97% effectiveness, the droid it is installed in can move at 97% the max spped for that chassis -- which COULD be the equivalent of a pc with terrain nogotion 3.

Now for aguments sake lets say that the sheild module 4 gives our droideka 1.6k sheilds (1.6k mind bar -- 3=1.2, 2=800, 1=400. All at max effiency) When the droid enters combat he has to raise these sheilds up from 0 based on the sheild mods recharge rate. These sheilds will take lets say 1 power for every 5 or 10 shield point (think of it as a special action cost), and the sheilds will continue to raise until full or the droid runs out of power. As the droid takes fire or melee damage the sheilds will obsorb all the damage until at 0 then any extra damage from that attack will carry over to hit the droid. Not to mention that any attacks towards the droid after the sheilds were knocked down will only have to overcome as much sheilding as the droid was able to bring back up in the time between attacks. As the damage hits the droid it deals damage to the red health bar after the armor modifier. For every 5 damage that the health bar takes, all internal components get a small random spalsh of damage too (lets say 0-5, with 0 weighted x3, ie. 00012345). This damage is applied to the components Durability -- once the durability gets to 0 the part is destroyed and the droid can no longer use that funtion(ie. motovator blows out, now the droid cant move) and has to be replaced or even upgraded by a DE. You could have the part repaired if it is damaged before it is destroyed ... much like we can do with weapons or armor now. If the health bar should ever reach 0 (god forbid), then the droid is destroyed and the components that were not destroyed can then be salaged off the corpse.

So every time that the doideka fires his gun it has a "cost" of power and a little health (maybe only 1 or 2) or every time that you command the droid to do any action the same will apply. The white bar damage can be fixed by a repair droid or DE -- The green power bar can be fixed with a power droid or DE(batteries) and the black parts could only be fixed by a DE. The bars should slowly recover on there own ... just for playability's sake.

If the droid runs out of power he becomes incapped (shuts down -- stops firing, can't move, can't continue to recharge shields) and just sits there (maybe in a slumped over posture ...). It can still be Shot at and once the shields are completely drained(they stay up but slowly drain), it is now completely vonerable to all attacks. and is a very easy target.

Just some other ideas to refine these thoughts:
Perhaps as the parts take damage the effiency of the part goes down a little too ...
Perhaps the sheild recharge rate could be experimented on?

There is a whole list of other things I could put up -- but I want your opions.

I love this idea and wish it could be here tommorow but I might never see it at all..

Have at it!!
