Thread: One good thing about this whole mess...

I think it's safe to say that us DEs (and droids in general) are finally getting some "attention" and threads read now.

Remember the time when the DE forum first page wouldn't change for like a day or two at a time?

It only took about 7 months and a suggested new profession to get here.

I guess that maybe Tailors can expect their profession to get attention when the upcoming "Fashion Consultant" profession is announced.

I thought there was going to be a "Gourmand" profession next, who would be the only ones capable of eating the better foods chefs produce...

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

devs attention wont last forever. if the community continues to be against everything they suggest we will get nothing. now they want back on what they negated somedays ago.

Sarcasm here, dough? That would be as bad as droid handler for them.

Sodan,

No, no...this isn't sarcasm. I heard it from when the Correspondents board was exposed. It leaked out. Apparently, the Tailors won't be able to wear the fashions they make, only the Fashion Consultant.

We aren't against everything they suggest. We ARE clearly against them using a DH profession to get there.

You will note that many here know/accept and believe that a working cert system is likely the best fix. It has also been the fix that TH himself has stated he'd personally like to see (and could work). However, the Devs shot this down as too hard, basically.

So, we're not the ones doing all the rejecting.

Devs:The DEs have stated "very clearly" that they want new droids via a new DH profession.

DEs: We don't want DH (i.e. MY poll. The vote count on that poll is pretty conclusive evidence
that this is NOT wanted).

Devs: What other option then? We think/know that the DH answer is the best (read: we've already
done weeks of work building this, since we didn't pay attention to you properly the first time

and started building the wrong plan.....but the easy plan...................................again).

DEs: Certifications can work and might, indeed, run better (if you take the time to helpUS help
YOU). There are a lot of workable ideas and suggestions out there that would bear fruit,
if you'd only give us direction on which system/suggestion to tweak. That's right, we can't.
Previous "myopic" design has roped us into this corner.

Devs: It's too hard, too expensive, we'd have to revamp combat (even though we're doing that
anyway). We want ideas on how to move forward, but those ideas have tocoincide only
with the work we've already done, will work with the current pet/creature and skills systems

already in place and don't involve working on a cert system. As long as it relates to how
we willjam DH down your throats (despite your cries that you don't want to see this happen),
thefloor is open.

DEs: <<general insanity and hair-pulling ensues from a large population of the DE community>>

I think I've painted a pretty good, realistic picture of what's really gone down with DEs in the last few days to a week or so. I've seen all the major moves, and mismoves, occur.

Why does this have to be SO HARD?!?!?!

DEs want to make droids (including cool combat droids) that ALL players can use (yes...including some of us DEs that like to defend ourselves once in a while).

I wouldn't call this Droid Engineer attention. The only reason TH is posting here is because there is no Droid Handler forum yet. All the changes coming in are Droid Handler perks and the discussions will quickly be moved to their forum as soon as their profession goes live.

DEs have never gotten any attention since day 1 and as far as can see never will. All we've gotten is more bugs added to the list.

This isnt good at all, because now we have people like Nelus cluttering up our forum with posts lacking cohesion, thought, and intelligence.

In other words, its gone down the crapper.
