Thread: Goodbye my fellow DEs

I've canceled my account. I thank you all for the fun times, and the information.

This last series of posts by Thunderheart has shown me that the developers have already made decisions on what they are going to do, and they don't care what you say.

To have the audacity to pretend that "the majority of DEs" wanted a droid handler profession was just too much. I waited and gave the team credit, hoping that this time they would listen to their players. I was wrong, and I'm finished.

We are already past the timelines for the changes that were supposedly coming in, and now they pretend like there is still discussion to be had.

The management team over at SOE is doing a terrible job. The development is haphazard, and the communication is dishonest.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Ground getting so close now....

Im taking an official break from the game except for harvestors for a while. Be interesting to see if my little vacation turns into a very extended one like so many of our kind have been taking (and for good reason).

Hmmmmmm......RL market economy in action. I find myself checking out other games that are due be released in the next few weeks myself.

I get tired of the arguement that ALL MMORPG are broken when released. Sometime, someone will realize that this is one of the biggest complaints of customers in this industry. Then they will build a MMORPG with as few bugs as possible and they will then set the standard for how these games will be built and released. Lets be real, 7 months of a broken profession(s) and they are still at the drawing board? Not only our profession but they are revamping the combat and Jedi system too?

I hope SOE does not expect me to fall for this crap again with EQ2 or any other piece of software they release? It just aint gonna happen.

But I digress, I am sorry to see you go Slythetove. I recognize you as one of the old timers in this group. My best wishes to you in your future endevors.

Another gaming veteran gone... I recall your DAoC posts on the VN boards from ages ago. I was far less active on them than you were, but I remembered you. Another DE gone.

Take care friend.

I think the real question should be that at what point would I quit even if they promised me what we all want. If the devs were to come out today and say "You guys were right, we'll do it all your way" would you still leave? I'm thinking that most of the ones cancelling their accounts would say yes.

You reach a point where it just isn't worth it anymore and what were seeing here isa lotof people hitting that point. When people like this leave the game, the devs really should be taking notice of it. It implies a deeper problem than just every day player churn.

Sox, I understand your point of view, but I'd wager that many of the folks now quitting have been on the knife's edge for a while now, and it did not take much of a straw to break that camel's back. My suspicion is that many were sticking it out long past the point of fun, in the hopes that they'd get something in return.

Now it seems we're getting something alright, but it appears to be a poorly-lubricated shaft.

We've gotten nothing but words from the devs. No straightforward plan, nothing, for over 7 months.

*places on a developer's hat*

The reason for this is that every time they have made suggestions, we have shot them down, so they have to start again. If we keep saying "no" to everything, then there will be no progress and the horizon will never get any closer. Look what has been posted by the devs, and every time the DE community has turned around and said "no, go away and think about it again". From a developer's perspective, that means I would shelve my existing plans and start formulating another lot. That could, potentially, be 2+ months of design work that has just been tossed for zero outcome. Therefore the horizon for seeing any changes arrive now gets pushed away by another 2 months. The reason that horizon hasn't been seen yet is that we are the ones responsible for pushing it away. At some point, if DE's want to get that horizon closer, we're going to have to bite the bullet and accept something that the devs give us, while understanding that probably half the community is going to be pissed about it and leave, and there will be a whole heap of newbies to fill the gap (gah... run on sentence there...). While the only answer is "no", the horizon will never get closer.

OR they could, I dunno, take a look at the bug list and suggestions that have been sitting here for month after month after month, reflecting the desires of the community. But perhaps that's too much to ask.
