Just looking for answers why other stuff such as pets and waypoints can't be stored in a droid data pad.

I think you'd better ask a dev. We don't know, just like you.

I'm curious here too. I just bought a droid with a data storage mod last night. I was putting pets in it, and now it dosen't work. Did I waste my money? Is the droid useless? Droid Engineer Nerfage?

The developers doesn't even know themselves is what I believe.

It's sad really how they poke and prod in our line of work (droid engineering).

During beta at least the different droids had a function, now they're only containers, containers that can hold modules.

They killed the dat-pad because people used them to store a MYRIAD of pets and droids, thus circumventing the max amount of pets a player can have.

And as with everything else up to now: If you don't know how to fix something - Destroy it utterly!

Hmm I wish something was dont to them, we have a data mod that does nothing, noone I have talked to will ever use one , if your not a crafter there useless, and crafters use the scmatic up when running a run of 100 so they never need to stor more.. Its just a big wast of time to make and if just another thing we have thats useless...

They took it out, because it's something useful. Just like how everything else in the game that's ever useful is an exploit and not "working as intended".

It's going to get to a point where killing gnorts with a T21 is an exploit, and the only thing that isn't exploitable is having 3 AT-ST's.

I can just see it now:

"Patch notes:

Fixed an exploit that allowed a Master Droid Engineer to craft an MSE "mouse" droid, thus allowing them to create an item with a medical module, allowing medics to heal wounds outside of medical centers. This is an exploit, because it takes away the value of medical centers."

First of all, I find the data modules to be invaluable to me even without the ability to store pets. I do quite a bit of business with factories and therefore blueprints as well. seeing as how last time I checked you still cannot trade blueprints the only way to get them to the other person if there is no vendor around is by using one of these droids. Aside from my crafting station this is probably the function of my droids I use most. In response to the idea that anything usefull or fun they take out of the game you can't actually believe that. From a business standpoint it makes no sense as you will only have players if they are having fun, and if you take out everything that is usefull they won't have fun. While YOU may believe something was quite useful, the majority of the gaming community might realize that it is hurting the environment of the game. Unfortunately, it seems that the only vocal group is the one with a problem. Since the release of the game, SOE has made major improvements in almost all aspects of the game, and I for one agree with just about everything they've done.

Data modules had to be stopped due to the gross number of pets that could be stored and the problem with infinite loops that even a straight novice DE could exploit for infinite storage.

I suspect that they _should_ hold waypoints and it wouldnt suprise me if they accidentally broke this in their hurry to remove the fact that it could hold missions at one point (which are technically waypoints thus my theory)

I'd imagine when a dev finally gets around to it (or works out how to do it, or hell even works out that its broken) we will see waypoints able to be stored in them

really though, what IS the point of this module? How about I make a nice bulletted list of why this module is sad waste of our time and a sorry excuse for creativity,

  • I mean, how many waypoints could you possibly have in you 100 item datapad allotment before it becomes way too confusing?

  • And schematics? Geez, 99% of the people who would use one would just make it themselves, so why on earth would they make a whole bunch and keep them around? They only take a second to make, so you make it, go to your factory, use it, it's out of your data pad. How simple is that?

  • Creaturehadlers, DEs, and Faction Pets? ok, what are going to do with those other87 spots in your datapad now that you've reached your creature/droid limit?

Basicly, the datapad is so freakin huge that you'd be crazy-go-nuts before long, longbefore you filled. Not to mention, the only cruitial things that one can store in the datapadare a maximum of 5 pets, 5 droids, and 3 faction pets, the rest is expendible.

I have an idea, let's make the datapad for data and leave coporeal items likecreatrues and droids in the inventory (which is also generously sized).

Droid Data Module =

..... And that's the whole point right there.

ASHRID, you're my hero. Really.

One planet isn't that big, man. I mean, I have 9 structures, a pa hall, 2 towns, a draft schematic, 5 droids, a pet, 2 faction pets, all of the GCW features and battlefields, a few 'places of note' marked, all of which are on Corellia, as well asanchorhead in my datapad. That's all I need/use. I don't feel like counting that up, but I bet it's under30 items. The rest of it gets deleted when I use it, because it's either easily replaceable or right beside something else. Really, you're never mor than 20Km away from anything on an planet and that whole 'world map look up' thing solves pretty much every issue with finding anything in a town, aside from advanced trainers. However, even then I find it easy enough to remeber things like, "The carbineer trainer is in Tyrena, behind the Cantina". What can I say, I must be some kind of savant or something, being able to store waypoints in my mindanduse visual cuesto determinewhere things areand all.

Yes ASHRID, you are my personal hero. One, for being able to name all of those waypoints something sensible enough to be able to locate them at a glance. And two, for being brave enough to defy the delete key. She's an evil, evil key.

If resources didn't change every **edit** week, people might have enough schems to have use for it. but as a rule, you only have enough of a material for a batch or two and then you will never need that schem again.
