Thread: Not happy with my droid.

I spent 70k on an R2 unit with 5 creature harvestor modules. With my droid set to harvest meat, half the time the droid rolls up to target and simply ruins the harvest so thatneither of us canharvest. When that happens, the droid is 'stuck' and can only ruin further harvests. Range doesn't seem to matter. This is not due to old harvest bug, where you would harvest a resource the creature didn't have, Iset the droid to harvestmeat. I'm so pissed.

I haven't seen this happen, with droids with anywhere from 1 to 6 harvester modules in them; however, that doesn't mean it can't happen.

If you were on Ahazi, I'd trade you another droid for yours, to verify that yours is bugged in some unknown way. If it were, I'd just trade you.

[Safe to say that, since I'm on Ahazi and you're on Valcyn. lol]

No, really; go to whoever made the droid and ask if he'll let you try out another. I'm sure that if yours is bugged that he would make it "right."

But that's just my opinion, and Hey! I could be wrong! :->

(just seeing how many times I can edit this. LOL) gawd, I'm sick!

I'm still trying to determine the actual problem, I just felt the need to rant. I think it may be related to giving the command at too great a range, then after it, while the droid is still out, no range will work. I also had something else happen that was weird, while my droid was 'stuck', if I tried to harvest without the droid, I would get a message saying that the resource container needed to stay on the corpse, requiring me to then 'loot' the corpse to get the meat. I've never seen that before. When I put the droid away, my harvesting went back to normal. My server(Valcyn) was doing other weird things yesterday, The planet Naboo was taken offline to fix a travel problem, then this morning the bazaar wouldn't come up. I'm not even sure if my droid problem was droid specific.

Ive had a similar incident on Tarquinas. I was messing around so threw a treadwell harvester together and Id tell it to harvest. It would roll up and nothing, and if I tried to harvest myself, no resources. It would sometimes work, but I think it had something to do with the speed at which I would switch to another target. I just didnt have the time to figure out the problem.

I thought maybe it was the chassis, but maybe its a more serious problem.

I noticed this last night on Dath...however it only happened on real tough terrain. Seemed like for my case it depended on what angle the droid took in approaching the target when it dropped on a cliff face. From above, or below it would not harvest, but if I set it in from the sides it was ok. May or may not be the same issue though. I'm on Lowca.

Your problems are not caused by the droid. It is directly related to the server problems you mentioned. I have had similar problems in very busy zones, and on inherently laggy planets (Dantooine). The droids work great most of the time, its just when there are serverside issues, come problems creep up.

Make sure there is not a storage module in your droid. If there is, then all the mission resources are in the storage module.

with me it was on Tatooine. Mainly around Bestine I believe, coulda been terrain, Im not sure about server performance.

I dont even have scout anymore to test it out!

Hmm, this is a major problem, the last thing I want is to spend 15 minutes taking down a big creature just to have the harvest ruined. The droid is really unusable if there is a risk of getting no harvest. It would have to have a real large bonus to compensate for occasional harvest prevention. If I were a DE, I would definately inform my customers that this is not working at this time.

What you described happened to me once. I recharged the droid (it was at 60% battery power still) and suddenly it started working fine.

I've never used a droid to harvest, but I have seen where you have to 'loot' the corpse to get the meat, hide, etc... This is caused when someone, maybe in this case the droid, tries to harvest a resource and your inventory is full where it would automatically place it. If your inventory rejects the resource it then goes back on the corpse and you now have to 'loot' it off of them.

Sounds like there's a good chance the place the droid has the resource stored is full or appears full because of server lag/error.

If it keeps happening, always try and loot the corpse after to see if that is what is happening.

I really was paying attention to my inventory, and it was definately not full. Also, my droid has no storage. I did try to loot after and nothing was there.

This "issue" is really a nonissue. It happens a lot less than you think and is more the fault of the server than the droid. I get missing missions, and bugged mission rewards far more than I get a missed harvest, and I look on it as simply one more peril of working in a crowded area/planet. Considering how bugged some of our other modules are, this is would proably rate about 8th on my list, on a good day.
