Thread: Balancing of Master Artisan items across the crafting professions with the new publish on TC?

As a part of the new Chef changes now on TC one of the new schematics is a barrel (for making drinks?), which is crafted by a Master Chef and requires one control unit and one power conditioner.

From the reaction of a guild mate chefasking what the hell these were I assume they were never needed before.

Is this an indication of spreading the MA components across the other professions that TH hinted at (less for DE, but more for others)? Is there a reduction of their use in droidschematics on TC now?

I remember that post.

Basicly TH said Less for DE OR more for others, not both.

"21.) Why are Droid Engineers dependant on Master Artisan components directly or indirectly (subcomponents of components) for at least 41 of the items in the Droid Engineering lines, but no other crafting profession even begins to approach this level of dependency?

We agree. In the not too distant future, either all dependencies are going up or your dependencies are going down. Its way too early to talk about which way that’s going to go at this point in time..."

Guess so. Don't know why, but I came away from that post thinking one of the options was both could change.

Would have been nice if it was going the other way though.

Bah! Take the parts out of the MA box and put them in Novice DE. I am very sad to see other professions are going to feel the same pain we do in having to master a skill set that I really dont need to. 4/0/3/0 is all I think we need in artisan to be a DE. Enough merchant skills to have a vendor and that is it. I hate and even despise that I have to burn skill points to make stuff in my profession. Sad.

I know that Armorsmiths require the electronics for shield generators, and architects require them for power cores (which they need for almost all structures). I'm guessing that weaponsmiths need this stuff too.

I'm perfectly fine accepting that Tailor, Chef, and Merchant don't need these sorts of things.

The way I see it, it's an independence-versus-versatility trade-off. If I want to be able to make everything on my own,I must be Master Artisan. If I want to put my skillpoints elsewhere, I may need to order parts from some other Master Artisan. Perfectly reasonable trade off.

As Master Artisan, I am an economic powerhouse -- I can find my own resources (survey), harvest them, make my own components, and craft a finished product at a very low cost. But I am weak in combat. I need friends to help me do combat missions, and I am worthless for PvP.

If I get rid of Master Artisan, my skill points make me more independent in other areas(e.g. combat), but less economically powerful.

I think there should be a definite advantage to having Master Artisan, and Nemoidian Bird Cages just aren't it.

So, let me get this straight: To advance my character, I have to give up my current abilities?

I´m probably going to be grilled , but I see these interdepencies as a positive. They encourage communication and playing TOGETHER. I sometimes get the feeling, the majority of MMORPG-players see the other players as a kind of background noise in an otherwise single player game.
Why not joining a PA ? Why not getting to know some master artisans ? Make some nice crafting droids for them, let them do the factory schematics for you. It seems that so many people want to be self-sufficient in this game. Spreading those interdepencies throughout the profession is imho the right way.

Just my 2 cents.

Interdependency was what I wanted to say.

It's not that we don't want to have to get things from Master Artisan. But that we don't want it to be a requirement to build everything in our proffession except the lowest level stuff. Yes almost everything we build and sell requires Master Artisan parts.

I've got to agree with you there. Interdependencies make things more interesting.

Master Artisans are now a little more dependent on Droid Engineers. The Vehicle Customization tool, that can only be used by Master Artisans, requiresa Droid Storage Compartment.

The Vehicle Customization tools are almost an exact duplicate of Droid Customization tools. The have the same art, the same inteface, the same experimentation values, and almost exactly the same resource requirments. They need +/- 2 resources that are either Metal or Mineral. (Don't remember the exacts and TC just went down for an update.)

Drashk, hope they fix that, as that goes against all their previous design philosophies. I suspect it is one of those cut and paste things and they'll fix it in time.
