Please /sign this profession if you think Master Droid Engineer in addition to being a crafting profession be a combat profession. A combat profession similar to CH.

Just because you don't agree with him is no reason to one-star him.
That said. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of true combat-role for droids, and perhaps a handler just for them, but I don't think DE's are it, nor should be.
I wouldn't mind seeing a combat role for ANY crafter, but within the context of the profession, (perhaps like base takedown, needing a certain profession to do something that it takes a team of combat types to get to.)
Next you'll want architects to be the only people who can place bases, or weaponsmiths to be THE weapon using class.

Sodon came up with a Droid enginner, droid handler hybrid proposal afew months back. It was promptly vetoed by the Devs.

DE is a crafting profession. I personally think it should stay that way.

This was the apex of the of the original higher end combat droid debate that occured before the Droid Publishes.
To sum up the discussions...
- Droid Engineer was originally designed as a Crafting profession.
- Giving Droid Engineers the sole ability to use higher end combat droids would harm the profession since it would encourage a higher number of Droid Engineers without increasing the sales market value.
- Droid Engineer does not support the skill points that would be required for a hybrid profession.
- The majority of the Droid Engineering community did not want to be the sole user of high end combat droids.
- Droid Engineers did not want to be a CH clone.
There were many points made for and against this idea; however in the long run, the Droid Engineer community made it clear that we wanted a better market over the ability to be the sole user of higher end combat droids.

Was there any movement on the introduction of higher end combat droids into the game?

Prior to the Droid Publishes, the major topic of the day was Combat over Utility. In the end, we recieved the combat increase that we see in droids today, with a larger focus on general utility such as the Scout modules.
Some part of work was started on the higher end combat droids, as is evident in a few of the older news letters, but work appears to have been halted due to the communities want for utility above combat and due to lack of an indepth means to introduce themto the game without causing a balance issue.

I don't think Droids or Droid Engineers should have a heavy emphasis on combat.
If you want to know why, please see my debates with Sodan.

While it woudl be good for us, it wouldn't be fair to the other crafting professions. Just like it wouldn't be fair to CH's.

I must agree with some of the comments...DE is a crafting professions an extension from Artisan...CH is like an extension to Scout..
You don't craft anything in CH you just tame.. It may seem very unfair that a master CH can have 1 uber pet or 3 decent pets out at the same time but let's face it..We as DE's can make many different droids and sell them...CH have a very limited market as non CH's can only use lv10 pets, also they can not sell the pets on vendors or the bizaar.
Would be nice to be able to have more droids out at once but I still think DE is just a crafting profession..

Before we waste more time on this thread it should be well known that this idea was already vetoed by the DEVs. They said it wont happen. Talk to Sodon if you dont belive me.
