Thread: Harvesting Droids?

i was over on the scout forums which then directed me to this thread from the DE forums:

now if what this DE is saying is correct then a harvesting droid would make anyone above a novice scout useless in harvesting because the droids modual acts like your harvest level. is this true? or is there some other information i am missing somewhere?

because i don't want to be outdown as a ranger by some rich novice scout with a nice droid.

The way I understand the Harvesting Droids is that they will probably harvest about 15% above what the Character's current harvesting rate is. So a Novice Scout won't be able to out harvest a Ranger, just able to harvest about 15% more than they usually do.


A Ranger could also use a Harvesting Droid to raise their take about 15% as well so it all evens out in the end.


The only person who comes out ahead on this is the person who doesn't have any scout at all being able to harvest.

You need novice scout to use the droid. The lower your own harvesting is the more benefit the droid gives. But whenever a Master Ranger uses the same tools he will harvest more of a kill then anyone else.

The droid harveting rate depends not only on YOUR harvesting level, but it's own. I level 32 won't harvest as much as a level 105+.

How do they work?

Are they of any benefit to a Scout/Ranger? Or are they simply for people without anyharvesting skills?

you must have at least novice scout to use them, so they're of no benefit to people without scout skills. The benefit to a scout/ranger depends on your skill. With my 104 rated droids its something like a 30% bonus to whatever you would have harvested yourself at novice scout, 20% at master scout, and 10% at master ranger (note: these are just rough guesstimates from the info I've got).

My first hand experiance with these droids yielded a 16-18% gain over my regular hunting 4 abilities. my droid had a 108 rating.

This was also the result I got when I tested my 104 harvest droids. I gave one to a Novice Scout, he only had Novice Scout no other skill boxes at all, and he got %15 increase in harvesting. Then I gave one to a Master Ranger and he also got a %15 increase in harvesting. If they took Havla they harvested more, but the droid still gave them a %15 boost.

With the corpse targeted, you issue a verbal command. There are some range limitations but both you and the droid can be at least 32m away-- its not clear to me exactly how it works.


The bigest benefit is when grinding ranged weapons exp, the droid will harvest while you go on to the next target. If you are doing fairly low level mobs, harvesting all, it can come close to doubling your rate. Even a fairly low harvest rate is better than having some corpses poof before you get to them. This is expecially true with a rifle, where you can spend much of your time running around otherwise.


If the droid has storage, it will put the harvest there. That can help a lot to keep stuff organized.

Thx 4 the replies.


I was looking into getting a droid because I'm 0-0-4-0 in Ranger, and would like to make full use of any harvesting benefits a droid may offer.


Another question that springs to mind, is does the droid have to do all the harvesting, or does it work in a similar fashion as a Doc droid, where simply it's presence will increase your yield?

The Droid must do the harvesting to gain the % increase in the harvest. Use of the droid relinquishes the player's rights to harvest the corpse as well, so you can't "double dip".

The problem with making Hybrid Harvesting Droids is that for each Harvesting Module you remove, the Droid will Harvest less. Possibly less then you would Harvest yourself.


For a Master Ranger, you want the Droid to be 100+, otherwise you wont see a bonus.
