Thread: need droids for levelling
I play on flurry. I have no med skills and am a wookiee and cannot wear armor. I detest the CH profession and the whole p-o-k-e-m-o-n atmosphere (go, on SOE, edit the word **edit**)
I can't use fac pets anymore cause they made them so they only attack Imps. I refuse to walk around with a zoo, so I'd like to use droids to tank. I dont need them to deal out damage so much as be able to take some hits for me.
whats the best droid for that? and how much are they? i have 1 probot now that cost me 18k with a food factory module.
If that probot, when called, indicates it has medium armor, with 40% across-the-board resistances, then indeed, that's the best thing going.
If it has 25% or less medium-grade armor, or any light-grade armor, you can do better.
Keep in mind that you can't really heal a probot's damage, you just have to wait for it to heal. So if you want the most effective levelling tool, you'll want two or three of the things, so you can cycle them out of service when badly-enough damaged.

I'm an MDE on Flurry. Look me up ingame and i'll fix you up with a high quality probot. I was able to use mine recently to solo a mountain squill. Does a great job as a tank. Even better is to have three of them and rotate them when their HAM's get low.
I'm curious about just how good a tank a Probot is. E.g., up to what level creature can it effectively tank?
I recently purchased one to be a med-use under fire, but so far have not actually had it get attacked. I'm not trying to use it as a tank, either, but just have it follow me for med use.
(Granted, when I purchased it, I had already made Master Rifleman so my perspective on 'hard' creatures is somewhat warped vs. someone starting the grind on a new profession.)
They are pretty decent at tanking. for one battle. then they have to sit and regen. As long as whatever is fighting doesnt have armor piercing. maybe ok with ap 1, though not so much.
Tanking a Rancor is better than I figured. A lot of pets tanking them need a big petstim after each bout as well. I wonder how much wound damage the Probot ends up taking... How fast does the HAM on a droid regen, anyway? (As I said, I have not as of yet had my new Probot actually fired upon.)
I also have a repair droid (ADV R3 chassis) and an ADV power droid in addition tomy med-use ADV Probot. (All three have max armour, and the repair droid also has med-use as a backup to the Probot, amount other modules). There's a guy in my guild that rotates out Probots and he's had me repair his droids. Usually they are postiviely *wrecked*. 90% wound damage in health and action and around 50% in mind. (I suspect the lower mind is because he has to recharge them and recharging also heals mind wounds, right?) Let me tell you, it's a nuisance that the repair module does not work in a power droid. I have to keep swaping between my repair and power droids as he pulls out each of his Probots.
