Quote from a CSR.

Greetings,

Recently we havehad many players report putting items in bags, storing them on a vendor and then losing the items inside. Using vendors as storage space for extra items inside of bags was not intended so please refrain from doing this as you will lose whatis put inside of the bag.

Additionally I would like to say that using Droids with the data module as pet storage is only a temporary method for storing pets. If that pet dies or is stored you will lose the information or pets that were stored in that droid.

Thank you,

Additionally, have you ever attempted to store a standard waypoint in a droid datapad? It won't let you drop it in there.

So...they can't store pets or droids, can't store missions, can't store waypoints....WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A DROID DATA MODULE?!

They store those oh-so-plentiful and datapad-hogging experimental schematics :-)

yeah, I made an R5 and stuck some experimental shematics in her the other day. I wanted to see if it felt like dressing up Barbie for the prom. Yup, it felt about that pointless.

Right now the only point to a datapad is trading schematics.

Make a storage module schematic for someone the other day, couldn't trade it somehow.

Dropped it into a MSE with a datapad, transferred the droid, done.

whoah man, that's bordering on useful, better nerf it!

Seriously though, the 6 levels of data modules are pretty freaking exessive considering how unhelpful they actually are. It was a nice thought SOE, but they're just not required in the game in any fassion above level 1.

You coule replace them with say, a radar jamming module, a radar spoofing module, a self destruct module, a module for each surveying tool, and maybe toss in a wee shield generator and nuclear power source instead if you like

I actually like the self-destruct module idea..imagine the possibilities for a sec...

Your an overt Rebel out checking on your harvesters with your trusty MSE droid while 6 Overt Imperials come strolling by...you burst run your butt out of there while commanding your MSE droid to "die for the greater good of the GCW and it's master". Or you could just craft a bunch of these and blow them up around town for laughs and giggles =) Either way, you have my vote!

Uh oh

Does this mean I should take the 6 Adv MSE's with Item mods out of my R2's data mod? I was really enjoying the inventory space ... Hope this doesn't get nerfed before I can get home and take my items out.

Oh don't worry, its actually useless. I had the exact same scenario except they wanted four schematics, but since I'm a novice, I could only transfer one at a time.

After two schematics, the droids simply refused to transfer anymore.

The sad thing is he was buying them for more than I've ever sold any of my droids.

Whoa! There wasa thread about useful droid modules that I didn't read, and I hope you posted these ideas! Talk about useful! A PvP player could do some serious damage with a radar spoofing mod. Self-destruct = Lair killer? But the best is the survey missions.

I've been dreaming about a more efficient survey process. Imagine having a big droid (bll or something similar) that would "scout" a region for resources! You give it a target waypoint and a return waypoint and off it goes. In actuality, like the probe droid, it doesn't really go anywhere. After you 'send' it, it disappears and a timer is activated. The length depends on the distance to the target waypoint. When the time is up, a "map" of the target area is available to you through a new tool based on the Planetary map. Instead of seeing cities and such, you see resource classes. The map is blank until you start feeding it data through the survey droids. The menu on the right would list: Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, Inert Petrochemical, Radioactive, Inert Gas etc... and you would open the drop-down to see the individual classes and names. When a resource is highlighted, the map displays a color gradient indicating density and NO BUILD ZONES.

These should be one-shot droids, and cost a fair amount (dont want to make it too easy). I would love to see a miner class back in SWG!

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

The following are already fixed internally, and should make it out to Test Center this week:

  • Contents of storage on droids vanishing when they are packed up
  • Being able to store on droids without storage modules
  • Inability to customize droids. This is actually going to be a post-crafting step, where you use a droid customization tool to customize them, but it still relies on skill. That way you can change your droid after crafting.

Looking into the issues with modules now.
