I have been using a harvest droid mainly as an efficiency method to harvest while I'm killing other stuff. My favorite part is that the droid can harvest even while I have a state attached (dizzy, stun, disease, etc.).
However, I have been in situations where I have been in combat with multiple creatures of different types and I want to harvest different resources from the different types of creatures.
It seems to me that I've seen other players with harvest droids use macros and aliases to accomplish this. I've seen them say "hm", "hb", "hh" in order to direct their droids to harvest meat, bone, or hides (respectively). If this is possible, would someone please post some detailed instructions here on how to set it up so I can adjust my droid's harvest interest and send it on its way?

Hmmm...the last time I used a droid to harvest, you have to manually set which resource you wanted it to harvest. You then issued the command to make it harvest what you previously selected. Unless there is a / command for changing what the droid will harvest, I don't see how to so it. You may wish to ask if there is a / command for changing what the droid harvests, in the DE forum.

I'm sure JB will say this more eloquently than I but: ditch the harvesting droid and get a fighting droid-- you'll kill creatures quicker, meaning you can harvest more quickly. Also, I have threemacros in my toolbar: meat, hide and bone.
meat is:
/loot all;
/harvest meat
bone is:
/loot all;
/harvest bone
and hide is:
/loot all;
/harvest hide
Trust me, if you kill the critters quicker and you use those commands, you'll be able to harvest fields of dead animal corpses very quickly.

I guess, specifically, is there a '/' command for setting harvest interest?

I stole all those macros from Phenix a long time ago and have used them - except bone - ever since (lack of space). Amazing the loot you find on some animals.
Harvestor droids are weird. Attack droids respond to /tellpet attack (a macro) or the everpopular "a", which can be programmed into the droid telling it to attack. Better is "guard" meaningif the baddiesshoot or attack me, the droids whacks and hits it with a bolt of electrical charge or it shoot atthe attackers(depends who is out).
Harvestors have to be told each time what to do and what to get. I often forget this in my rant against them, thanks for reminding me. I think you can macro it, steal Phenix' macros and try.

back when I was trying to use a harvester droid, I used the /tellpet harvest (my harvest command programmed in) command in my macros and aliases and the ones where I actually had /harvest meat or whichever in it, if I was in-range I got it or if I was out of range or in combat the droid got it (when it actually responded to even a /say)

take it that was with the R3 JB, Mind u I wish they would hurry up and let us use at least 2 driods, always useful if you have a repair driod/recharge driod for medics, or even just to have 2 combat driods when out hunting when noone else is on.....

Harvesting droids will only harvest the resource that was set last. Not sure why people were using hm, hb, hh or whatever. In fact, you can only have one text command set to "harvest", so it's not possible to tell it to "harvest meat" and then tell it to "harvest hide".
The text command can be anything, but should always be done with "/tellpet command", rather than shouting or saying it in spatial. Any word can be used to harvest -- depends on what command you typed. "/tellpet harvest" will do the same thing as "/tellpet fluffybunny" as long as "fluffybunny" is the text you entered when you set your harvest command.
As far as which resource it will harvest -- text or /tellpet commands don't work, as it's manually set in the radial menu. Once set, it will gather that resource every time.
And, I agree with phenix and JB... unless you're a novice rifleman with slow speed, you'll harvest much quicker without them.

the harvest macros were things you use yourself. so you don't have to manually target each one and wait for the radial menu to pop up, and then find the one you want and then click it. The macros are NOT for droids. It's just a way to speed up your harvesting. Along with a good droid, like JB said, this can speed up your harvesting more so than getting a harvester which may run away on you.

Hey phenix, I'm not sure if you were responding to my post or not.. Looking back on mine, I'm not sure if it was clear. It was late when I posted.
When I said you can't use macros or commands to change the resource type, I meant that you can't change a droids ability to harvest something different with a seperate command/macro. I wasn't referring to the /harvest meat, /harvest hide, etc macros that are used to harvest whatever you have targeted manually. (and which are useful, unlike harvesting droids.)

I enjoy my little harvesting droid. I always laugh when it gets chased by a creature. Silly thing beeps and runs as fast as it can....away from me. "Harvey" has personality.

..and I'll chip in with a "not necessarily" here.Rifleman + Harvest droid = saves my legs and I can be killing the next critter while my droid is picking the bits off the previous carcass. As Master Rifleman I kill most stuff faster than it can spawn from a lair anyway. Might aswell sit back and let the droid do the leg work.

to each their own Jasco. I always liked having my probot in front of me and me being able to stand back, never get aggro, clear an entire lair, then harvest every single corpse. Or for tougher critters (which you should think about going after if you can kill them before they can spawn) I harvest after each wave.
