Thread: Shame on You, Thunderheart
I've had a nights sleep, re-read the proposed DE "Plan", and don't feel any better. I left the HoC chat full of hope and anticipation of the impending fixes that were long over due for DEs.
Shame on you for making our hard working DE corespondent post that "Plan." The plan, as you call it, was nothing short of a cut-and-past from the DE forum's own recommendations, with several "will take a while" comments added. While this may seem like a dream-come-true, getting all the things we've been asking for, the entire "Plan" was nothing but a pipe dream. A whisp of hope for another day.
We have real issues that need to be fixed now. We don't need new content, we need existing content fixed. Could we just customize a droid when we are making it? Is THAT too much to ask? And could that color last more than a day? Could we get a little benifit from experimenting on what we make? The profession is in the midst of a heart attack, and you're giving the ambulance a wax job. Shame on you.
As the go-between for the comunity at large, and the development team, you get alot of pressure to produce product for both sides. If this document came direct from the DEV team, shame on you for passing it along. If it was of your own design, shame on you for creating it.
Where are the short term goals? We have some really simplistic issues that if fixed, would make our daily lives in SWG so much more rewarding. Shame on you for ignoring these in the "Plan."
How about the CH plan? A while back, the CHs got a nerf in the form of pets no longer being storable on the droid data pad. This was a blow to the CH class, but how about the DEs? In what was ment to be a CH nerf, you obliterated a huge **edit** of the DE market. In the new proposed CH plan, you will be limiting player to ONE pet out at a time. What is, on the outside, a CH nerf is another HUGE blow to DEs. Where now, folks will deploy a pet AND a droid, they will no longer have a reason to buy the droid.
Shame on you, ThunderHeart.

If I took this "plan" to my boss and told him this was the "plan" I had to convert our surrvellience systems in all four stores he would laugh at me. If I then explained I was serious about it and we were gona roll, he would ahve to consider firing me. There is no framework, order, timeline or anything near expected dates of completion. Should, ought to, would and may are words that don't exsist in a plan.
As you said, it is a copy-n-paste. A bill of goods.

Um, this is NOT a final development document... It's MUCH earlier in the pipeline. This is much more akin to you going to your boss and recommending that your surveillance system NEEDS some improvement, and here are some ideas you got from reading the brochures.

This is more of a concept. Which makes it hurt all that much more. They (the pronoun people) are calling it a plan, and it is not. It is a pacifer, and we need the t*t.
A question that I'd love to ask Sintrosi right now is.....
Is 'The Plan' that was posted at 5:11 pm (PST) the original document that you mentioned discussing with the DEVs at 11:08 pm (PST)?
For some reason, I don't think what we all have read is the full extent of what was originally created and I doubt that Sintrosi can tell us one way or the other on this matter. From what I've read of Sintrosi's posts lately, it would seem that she is under a lot of restrictions as to what she can say aboutany information she gets from the DEVs, when she is included in the loop.

The list that was pawned off on us is no plan per definition. I typically view the word plan from 1. Especially in relation to the issues that we all face, 1 figures to be the mostappropriate.
From a project managment standpoint, the outline we were given is very early in the life of a project. It is the beginnings of the planning stages. Going on three months live, having been sporked from BETA, there should be a far better plan in place now to address our issues.
Maybe some of my venom directed at TH isn't warranted. He is, however the representative from SOE that brought the news. And with that, he takes the praiseas well as the mud. I am very frustrated with the quality of service WE are recieving from SOE. At this juncture, I am not willing to cancel my acct to support my dissatisfaction, but I am certainly willing to use these boards as a forum to be heard. I am be in the minority and I am OK with that.

Sorry, but TH was WAY to smug and proud of himself for delivering this news (eventhough he made Sintrosi pull the trigger). While I believe ThunderHeart is well meaning, he is one of the pronoun people now (they) and bears as much responsibility for the direction the game takes as any one of them. Additonally, it serves no purpose to sugar coat the issue. The original post is harsh, and was ment to be. It was not ment as a defamation, or an attack on ThunderHeart 'the person', rather, it was ment tomake him evaluate what role he will take in the future development of this game: Kowtowing yes man, who tows the party line... Or visionary player's advocate who pushes for positive change. In the context of this whole "DE Plan" episode, he has played the part of the lackey, and shoved usa pure turd sandwich.
The real shame is laid to rest at SONY'S FEET!!!!
They do not even want us to be able to defend ourselve in-game! We are supose to hire CH to tank for us on our daily runs to our harvestors, (lord knows you can't set one up and pay for a week without the resoucres shifting). Our only decent combat droid got nerfed big time the second week!!
ANY PLAN WILL INCLUDE RESTORING THE PROBOT!!!!
I disagree J'Vee. I don't think this plan is a cut and paste of what we've been screaming for.....in fact, they missed many of the core issues and added things which simply aren't necessary to our profession. In some places, they hit the nail on the head (power droids). However, all the "will take time" and "hard to implement" comments show that it is just in the random thought phase and isn't set in stone.
For us, it's an opportunity to argue with them and set them straight. We need to give them our strict evaluation of every aspect of this plan, acknowledging the fitting parts (power droids), questioning the questionable parts (Surgical Droids? How will it be implemented to not encroach on Medics?), and blatently argue against the unnecessary (Mouse Droid bombs? No thank you).
Maybe ThunderHeart is really behind the plan. If so, we have to show him the error. Maybe ThunderHeart's job was to back it up, and he really had no autonamy to give his own personal opinions. If so, we blame SOE. But I really don't think it's as grim as you make it out to be; better this than nothing at all, which is what we've been getting for a few months. At least with this we have substantial capabilities to quote what they claim to think about us.
