Thread: Rename Droid Invasion to Droid Retreat
Do you guys really thing the "utility" droids will be high demand products that draw a premium price? Ummm... Get real! In this game, if it doesn't kill stuff the power gamers don't give a squat about it and the power gamers are the ones that have the $$$, jedi characters, own the cities, make up about 90% of the economy, and etc. To them, if it isn't a weapon, its crap and crap should be given away for free. Better replace those dollar signs in your eyes with empty wallets.
We all know that the Droid Handler profession is a HUGE mistake. All we have to do to know that is just ask a few Bio Engineers if their seperate handler profession works. They will tell you its a failure. So again, instead of listening to us, the DEV's have decided that if we won't swallow the Droid Commander crap, then we don't get combat droids at all. Geezh!!!!! What a bunch of hard arses. It's all are nothing with you guys. There's some very good proposals here for putting the handling skills into one of the Droid Engineer profession's skill trees. But no, again the DEV's just won't listen.
I swear, trying to get the DEV's to do this thing right is like trying to catch a greased pig.
There is not a rolleyes big enough to show the lack of respect I have for you and your post.

I made the switch partly because the word on the boards from the devs was that commandos were going to get nerfed HARD, and droid engineer was supposed to be revamped, and made cool.
Nothing personal.
Actually, DE's didnt want combat droids exactly because of people like you, who change professions at the drop of the time because a profession gets attention from the devs, and who damage the market in the process. Maybe if you had read the forums you would of known better than to set yourself up for disappointment.
As for combat droids would of made us uber rich. gee. you mean I could have 200 million credits instead of 2 million? That sounds exciting. I guess I could pay my house maintenance for a year. oh wait, I can do that now.
After the first million, who cares? there's nothing to spend it on, Im starting to give away money.
Utility droids would kick. If they added 5-6 modules, thats double what we have now, more so if count crafting stations as 1 module.

Nor I for you.

Good, go. Be an armoursmith or weaponsmith. Since that is all you care about is money, why are you here?
My friend here has hit upon the point exactly. Most of us who have remained loyal to the profession for so long aren't in it for the money. Some of the master DEs rake in fair amounts, while the rest of us not there yet scrape by the best we can, and enjoy it. Why?
We love droids. Not money.
So if it's the supa-mad BLING BLING that you're here for, find a different profession.

Everyone has a right to play any class they want for as long as they want to, and then drop it for whatever reason and go on to something else. The game is set up to encourage this in fact. I know DE is a small and intimatecommunity where everyone knows everyone else, but if changes are made to DE and it becomes better and more desirable to be one, Droid Engineer will be like every other profession in the game. People will take the profession because it seems fun to them for their reasons, play with it for a few months, and decide to do something else. The ones who like it will remain because it'senjoyable to them. That's the way the game works. Thinking that DEdwells in a bubble and isn't connected with the rest of the game's professions and people isnaive at best. Unles of course DE never changes from what it is now.
Okay pal, I've posted some pretty angry posts here too, but the fact is, the reason we're not getting combat droids intermixed with the DE profession is because the DE's themselves said they didn't want it, then we all got outraged at the other possibility. There's a serious lack of compromise on BOTH sides, not just the Devs'.
Secondly, the cash cow thing isn't much of a point anyhow. Most DE by now should realize they are NEVER going to make the money an armorsmith or weaponsmith makes without actually having something that can influence combat, i.e. combat droids.
We may get some added boons to our cash flow for a very short time, but in the end, added utility and convenience will result in exactly what we have now. Squat, financially speaking.
Anyhow, what would you spend your money on if you had it? I've had millions now for months and I've completely run out of things to buy. I've got some of the best armor I've ever seen, one of the best weapons I've ever seen, I've bought all the faction points I can use...there's nothing left to buy!
Fact is, one of the above posters was correct, as it stands, the only reason ANYONE in the DE profession has stayed with DE is not because they think it'll make money or that they believe they'll get super uber combat droids. It's because they love droids and the complexity of them and the Star Wars feel they provide, something much appreciated by those who think the game seriously lacks this.
So, in conclusion, there's no need to get snippy about this. Sure, it's not the promised Invasion they said, it's not even close, but we did mess up the plans, not them. Now it's in a state of fluctuating chaos and the mess needs to be worked out. Better than nothing right?

No, you don't know the first thing about why I dropped commando, or why I chose to be a droid engineer. I completed two holo careers...master entertainer and master artisan. I really enjoyed being an artisan, which admittedly, I wouldn't have done if the holocron hadn't forced me to. I have been having a blast surveying, pulling resources, and saving them for 3 months in preparation for mastering droid engineer. That was months before I knew droid engineer was supposed to be revamped. I had started commando before I even picked up a holo, and decided that I should master it, since I was halfway done. Why not drop commando a bit early when it is going to be nerfed? I am tired of things being nerfed when people complain, and since I cannot beat the devs, I am going to to do what makes me happy, and switch professions. How many professions have you mastered? The game economy is already a joke, and I didn't do this to get rich. I stated in another post that whatever happens, I am going to craft some droids for sale, but I am mainly in this to craft the highest quality droids I can for myself, and then stockpile them for future use before moving on. I plan what I want to do in this game, I prepare for it, and then I do it. Maybe you should try some other professions too, it might expand your point of view about this game.
