Thread: Slap in the face to DEs
I was just approached by another cheapskate... "I want a crafting station in a mouse droid"... I told him 4k and he can have it.
The devs really need to put a limit on what type of modules go into those pissy ass things.
I refuse to put any module above level 4 on MSE's, DZ70's, Treadwells, and R5's. This includes the ADV versions. I will put up to Level 5 on R4's. I do not place Crafting Stations on MSE's or DZ70's either. I also do not stack GCSM's nor do I place them in normal General slots.
In fact, I hardly make any of these droids(except Treadwells because they are so f'ing cool). I feel a Novice DE or non-Master would be better suited to creating these because they still get xp for them. So if someone really wants one I usually send them to my fellow DE's whom I know to still be grinding DEXP and need the cash.
I'm thinking about limiting non-armor to Level 4 on Probots as well... maybe 5. I still need to think that one over.
I will put repair on DZ70's though, just because I think it looks cool to have a repair floaty.
Sometimes I place 2 storage modules in a droid to get the 10 slot capacity, but that is because I do not have the required materials handy. To me, stacking modules such as data, medical, etc.,could be considered an exploit. The storage and armor are for some reason in my eyes different than the rest somy rules don't apply to them.
You have to place limitations on the droids yourselves (and adhere to your rules)and have a bit ofcommon sense when building your droids, because whoever designed the schematicssure as hell didn't have a clue what they were doing.
Sure, go ahead, place your level 6 Clustered x4 modules in an MSE. But at least charge them the same as you would for a adv protocol. Just remember, when the nerf bat swings its your door the people will come knocking on when their ubar-mouse is broken.
Sorry for the rant ![]()
That wasn't a rant. ![]()
The last mouse droids I made were for free... a friend released them and then had his bearded jax attack them. Funny as hell! lol (cat and mouse get it?)
I do sell the ADV MSE Droids with the LVL 6 med and Food/Chem crafting stations. I feel if the customer wants it i'll provide it. I do try to talk them into a better driod and they often go for the cool factor of the surgical driod anyway. There are players out there who don't try to make a fortune and i'll help them. medics who are always helping out someone don't always get tips and once you factor in the cost of resources spent on healling someone they rarely breakeven. So yes i will sell them, Ihave my factory cranking them out right now by the crate full.I feel 2k each is more than fair. Some people even buy more than one, one guy bought 4.

I have to say, MSE+crafting stations have been a great money maker for me... I sell about20 or soof them a day at 3000 credits (make em in a factory, so they take me very little effort). Cheap enough for a person to buy 2-3 at a shot (in case they die in the field, and they do), but useful enough that the 3k price tag for a (very) disposable pet is okay.
Given that it is factory made, and thus my time investment is about 5 seconds per droid (listing em in my vendor), and my resource investment is minimal, these are a *great* thing.
I generally make a few classes of droid:
MSE + Crafting: 3k
R5 Advanced + armor + max med + food/chem crafting (perfect for combat medics): 15k
R2 with *everything* + a crafting station: 22.5k
Advanced probots w/40% medium armor: 25k, or 30k with max med and a crafting station.
Custom: Usually humanoids. 20k base for an LE on up to 50k for an advanced BLL. Mostly bought for the "Wow" or prestige factor. I sold *3* C3P0's to someone for a total of 100k - they wanted spares, just in case of aggros while they were showing off.
My droids sell like mad. Everyone who wants can have one that'll work for their price range. How is this bad?
Now, if you're running them 1 off, yeah, that is a waste of time. I only do 1 offs for the 20k+ custom droids.
A slap in the face? Hardly. More like a shot to the wallet.

I made an MSE plus food/chem station for a composer who wanted a "Bartender bot" to hide behind the bar when he was making drinks. He's quite happy with his purchase, even if the droid's squeaking defeats the purpose somewhat. ![]()
And I wasn't about to pass up 3k creds. ![]()
I only advertise my astromechs because that's the type of droid I wish to specialize in. I've made one Probot, for myself, that will pretty much stay in my datapad until permadeath goes bye-bye.
You sir, are a moron.
Who are you to tell him and his customers how to play the game? If you want to have rules for yourself, fine. But, just because you believe that your rules are good, may not make them so and does not oblige the rest of us to follow them.
Yes, this is an exploit. We all know it's not supposed to work this way. Lack of materials is not an excuse. Materials scarcity for high-end items was designed into the system to make them more valuable.
Just curious - where is a thing from the devs saying module stacking is an exploit?
2 modules = 2 slots taken up, so level 6's are still very useful, as they only take up one slot. (Yes, I know you can make infinite stacks with general clusters, but *THAT* would almost definitely have to be an exploit)
If stacking *were* an exploit, then why would an advanced probot have *2* armor slots? There is no possible reason that advanced probots would have 2 armor slots unless stacking armor is intended. And, if stacking armor is intended, then why wouldn't stacking for other things be OK?

I get asked almost daily for a food/chem module in an MSE droid. My answer is "Sure, I'll make it, but I charge 10k. Are you sure you wouldn't prefer an R4 or R5 unit with the same module?"
I have sold a few like this, and they still wanted the MSE. I have also had some who will say nevermind and go out and find some other DE to do it for them. Personally I don't care, MSE were data droids in the SWG universe, or MAYBE a storage droid with a level one module in it. They were mainly used to guide people around, fetch troops, go from place to place with information.
