Thread: Creature Handlers What about Droid Handlers?

They do notwant everyone running around with high powered droids due to the lack of skill requirement. Well, why not make a class dedicated to handling high powered droids? Allow Droid Engineers to make lvl 60 Battle droids to equal the BioEngineers and Creature handlers.

The droid engineer would also make the repair/healing kits to heal a Battle droid and the Vitality packs.

This would give the DE class an entire profession dependant on them and enhance the ecomony while going back toward a more Star Wars feel.

Howeverallow anyoneto use the low lvl and or non combat droids as it is now.

What do you think?

Disagree.

Creature Handlers are special, in the fact that creatures take skill to be able to tame and control them. A droid is a machine, therefore the creator of that machine should be able to use it better than anyone.

I don't think that DE should be an independant combat class, not by any means. But we should be able to use what we make, not have separate classes dedicated to the usage of our product.

Hmm..

I believe that a whole "Droid Warrior" class probably isn't something that should be considered... itsimply doesn't fit with the star wars universe... and would dilute the combat class pool even further...

I do think that the some of new combat droids should be added with certificationsin one or more of the combat classes and that those classes should be the only ones that get those certifications.Perhapse it could have certain droids only in the ranger tree and the comando tree. But some generic across the board ones would be welcome to balance out the lost sales to the CH.

Creating droids that are only useful in missions for specific classes like BH droids would also be something good for our class.

Yeah but they willNEVER allow droids to be as powerful as creatures because anyone can use them. That is the reason they "nerfed" the probots. This will allow droids an avenue to get as powerful as a creature.

If they add a certification system to droids, I will quit the profession.

I joined the profession so I could create pets that I could use, not to create pets that were worthless to me. I just want the droids I make to be effective in combat, not overpowering. I am CH for the big tanking and heavy damage dealing pets.

A battle droid falls more in line with Star Wars than Sludge Panthers, Grondos (Elephant pets), and Tybis fighting for thier owners...

where does creature handler fit into the starwasr universe. I think they should spend a little less time worrying about continuity, and more time worrying about satisfied customers. I say if this is an everchanging universe lets change it the way we want it. I.E. some mother**edit**ing droids that are worth a **edit**.

Lets think this through.

The most successful Advanced Artisan class is the Weapons smith - that can use close to none of his weapons due to certifications UNLESS he has a skill in a weapon class.

I'm not for taking anything away from the DE class - keep everything as isbut allowMORE powerful Combat Robots to equal Creature Pets. (i.e. Droid handler /controller actually Droid controller sounds better).

Instead of seeing a Rancor tank - we can see a battle droid tank which is made from the DE class. This will giveus a way to make BIG money.

The reality of it is, anyone can use a machine. Not anyone can control a beast.

One takes training, while the other can be accomplished by simple pre-programming and reading the manual.

Just because someone can drive, or operate a computer, does not mean they can train animals.

There are very clear and distinct differences between the two.

If droids needed training skills to use, you all would be even farther hurt by it.

Now making the machine is a entirely other issue and not anyone can do that.

I would like to see bigger, meaner droids available to us, at least to bring us to parity with the creature handlers. To keep high-powered droid out of the hands of noobs it should be a simple matter to assign them difficulty ratings or certifications so that only accomplished droid engineers could use super combot bots. The earlier suggestion that these certifications be in some combat tree it complete crap. You need specialized training to operate more complicated machines. Consider that anyone run a walk-behind lawn mower, but you need training to operate a large industrial harvesting combine. Training you would not get by plinking worts with your CDEF pistol.

Give us big, scarey battledroids that can stand side by side with a creature handler's giant pets, but keep the use of them the exclusive province of accomplished droid engineers.

We have a fundamental problem - some of us need to recognize.

Droid Engineer = Bio Engineer in SOE eyes.

A Bio Engineer makes Pets - they do not control them except for the low level pets. They are not going to make the Droid Engineer to a Droid controlling class - it's not going to happen.

What a DE makes NOW can be used by everyone. I'm not suggesting a fundamental change that SOE will not accept. I'm asking on top of what everyone can use now - to allow us/you to make robots that can be equal to Bio Engineers (level 60 Battle Droids) and hence a Droid controlling class.

But it makes absolutely nosense to have someone train in droid controll skills.... those things are programmed to do what? DO WHATEVER TASK IT GETS!

The last thing we want is another profession just like CH. In my opinion we dont need droids to be as powerfull as creatures. Keep them as a side pet. However They do need to be more powerfull than the 800hp probot. When people ask me to build one i tell them not to waste their money Even with lvl 6 armour. What should be added is a cert system added to elite professions. Make some stronger bots, but make it so u have to be fairly high up in an elite profession to use them. ie Put a cert half way up the bounty hunter or pilstoleer or tka tree, that lets you use a droideka or something, and the droidekas dont need to have 10k HAM. maybe compromise at 3-4k just strong enuf that they can sell again, and are actually usefull at higher lvls.
