Thread: R3's for 65k too cheap it seems
Coronet, Ahazihere. Just started building R3's with all crafting stations, inventory, and medical module for 65k in my brochure and this isobviously too cheap. People are readily buying them without hesitation! Going to steadily increase the price to 80-85k and see how that goes.
Just thought I'd put this up to show how high they can go without people complaining. Wonder if it could be taken to 100k... hhhmm
I think the price variation between servers occurs for 3 reasons:
1) People aren't educated enough to realise the value of the droids. Especially this "Last Droid You'll ever Buy" model. Education raises value. Krayt dragon FWG5 pistol isn't worth much if people only use them as clubs
2) The price usually settles low due to some bidding war or because no one knew how much to charge for droids, so they charged low originally and a trend developed. This can be overcome simply by getting with those other DEs who sell in the same region you do and having all of you spend a week pushing the prices steadily higher to see what the market can take. All it takes is a couple people agreeing not to undercut for only a week to see how much can be gained. Or, if you rarely see other droid engineers anyway, try selling at a higher rate without any cooperation. No DE will complain if you charge MORE than they do, only if you charge less. Doughbacca and Situ were amazingly successful about 2-3 months ago in doing this and we're still sitting pretty here in Coronet because of it.
3) The relative wealth of the server plays some importance. The younger servers won't have as much money in them as the older ones. Fortunately I play on an older server and therefore there are a lot of credits flying around. But most of them, with the exception of Test Centre, will be able to support at least 45-50k (I'm guessing). for the "Mother of all Crafting Stations". If you're selling significantly lower than that then see point 2.
Anyhow, that's my newest contribution to the pot. I don't think we're not in a broken profession; I just like to take what things we do have going for usand use them to the fullest. So far the greatest thing we have is the rarity of droid engineers (and hence rarity of droids)and the unity of those few that are here. Life is just one large set of oppertunities, might as well take advantage of which ones we have here.
Oh, another post while I was writing the last one. To answer it, I have stopped going by price guides based on what it cost to build the droids or any of that. Instead I go by the relative worth of the droid, what the market will readily accept, and what I judge the average wealth of my customers to be. I also maintain a flat rate for droids (no haggling) and have a no-hassle approach to selling by building all droids custom order through a brochure I send out to anyone who asks for one (basically sitting in coronet shouting "DROIDS FOR SALE! PST for my new brochure!").
Those who are interested and willing to pay my price (which is over 90% of the people I send the brochure to) send back a /tell with what type of droid they want and with what modules (educated automatically via explinations in the brochure). And those that aren't willing to pay my price still walk away with waypoints to almost every DE shop in the galaxy, which will probably give competitive pricing to fit their needs. In either case everyone walks out happy.
In the end, some people comment on how they give 'fair' pricing based strictly off minerals or the like. I suppose I don't, but I my system seems to be working very well for my needs, for the needs of the customer, and the needs of those DEs who do pick up business from my brochure or are able to charge more because a new bar is being set. But in the end the only people who judge fair are the people who buy and the people who sell. Those who buy will go for whatever they feel is fair and I provide that avenue via the referal waypoints. Those that feel I'm being fair will pay the prices I set, and I feel I'm being fair by offering a rare commodity and am making enough of a living to keep me interested.
There, conscience cleaned. Back to you guys
And here I can't even sell my R4's with nice modules for more than 5k (if that). Being a novice DE fellates equine phallus.

i sell r3s like that for like 30k lol.
Now you see how much money you are leaving on the table when you undervalue your own products.
