So why can't a Data Storage Module hold Waypoints again?

That'd be too useful.

Sorry, I mean: I have no idea but it's a shame alright.

well it just seems that only being able to place Skimatics is just kid of well... stupid? I was a merchant for some time and I dont ever recall needing 150 units of Skimatic storage space, even with 4 factorys.

In the early days, some enterprising players found out that they could store missions in the data storage modules. They would get literally dozens or hundreds of missions from a terminal and then set out on their merry way running missions. This was considered an exploit and led to the removal of the ability to store waypoints in data modules.

Explanation from a long time ago:

SWG's system doesn't have a method of determining regular marker (blue) waypoints from mission (orange) waypoints. By allowing waypoints into the data storage, they wouldn't be able to limit you from putting mission waypoints into data storage, and would then not be able to enforce the 2 mission cap. If that were the case, then people would load up on missions (conceivably 52 at a time) and it would dump too much money into the economy by allowing players to earn credits too quickly.

Sounds like they didn't bother differentiating regular waypoints and mission waypoints just the same as they cut corners on the pet/droid differentation and only made things more difficult for themselves in the long run.

Sooo why can't hey add something that makes Misson and Data Waypoints look different, you know a simple line like Misson=1 or Misson=0? laaaazzzy laaazzzzy developers.

Or hey... here is a thought.
Why is this considered an exploit exactly?

How about they limit the data to equal the same as an Item Module. 10 spots only.

Let them stock up on 12 missions. Why is it an issue?

Lets see... Start at City A - Do Mission 1 - Do Mission 2 - Head ALL the way back to City A - Rinse and Repeat as Often as Necessary. What an amazing and boring time sink.

Why is this a job? Oh dear heavens... someone may be inclined to *gasp* explore.

And why can they set it up on my main datapad that I can get only 2, but can not set it to 0 on my droid?

If they are so worried about farming faction, well they shouldn't be... they already messed that up with the "Imperial Crackdown ~TM"

what ever I just think that while developers are looking at the droids they should fix this so that they can carry Data Waypoints, dont really care about the misson stuff.

How about not... A factory can only see the first 50 compatible manufacturing schematics in your datapad. I've got to the point where I need to store many off-line on a droid, and I would be more unhappy with a nerf to the storage capacity than I am with the long-standing nerf to the type of data that can be stored on a droid.

I would love to see the devs make an effort to make data storage more generally useful, and storing waypoints would be the obvious choice, but not if it means increasing the foam-rubber content of my droids. With only 10 data items per droid, I would have nothing but data storage droids in my datapad.

wow some one who actully carys that many Skimatics on hand, Who saw that coming?

I do agree though I would be much happyer if they just modifyed the Data Mod so that it could hold Data Waypoints. And it would be the obvius answer and I beleave that was the original intention.

it certainly seems like a quick fix that they would get back to that they never bothered getting back to. They really _should_ fix it for patch 8.

First, I like the idea of a droid enabling you to take more than 2 missions at once. 10 missions sounds a little high to me, but an extra couple would be nice.

Second, who actually carries around schematics with them? As soon as I make a schematic I use it. If I didn't there would be a danger of using the up one of the resources rendering the schematic useless.

In fact what I usually do is first open the ingredients hopper on my factory, then start a crafting session to make the schematic (with a droid crafting station). Then I drop the ingredients into the hopper after I add them to the ingredients slot as I am making the schematic. This ensures that I don't forget something or put the wrong resources in. (and get that frustrating out of ingredients letter 2 minutes later)

Is it just me or is there some value in saving a schematic that I have overlooked?

Just to be clear, I click and drag straight from the inventory menu that appears in the crafting session to the input hopper.

Come to think of it, that would make a good Tuedsay Tip...
