What's the difference? Somebody wants to buy one. Please tell me they made surgical droids better than other droids or I'm gonna be even more *pre-edit* off.

There is no difference at all except in appearence. I know... it makes no sense.

there is no difference. The idea going was that surgical droids would already have medical capability built into them, well either that is bugged or just they decided not to do that, but there is no inherent medical ability in one, so you must add a medical module. The only difference is looks and how many resources it takes you to craft one. It gets even better though, you know the repair droid was supposed to have this inherent repair feature also, but it doesn't. However if you add the repair feature to a repair droid or power droid, there is a bug and they cannot repair other droids. So the repair droid can never even be used for repairing other droids, lovely huh?

This is all so lovely. Essentially, all droids are the same except for appearance, and appearance mods such as colors are bugged, so they have even less variation.
We need combat droids that have combat specialty built-in, medical droids with med built in, and repair droids with repair built in. Modules should be able to be added to any of the module-capable droids, but these modules (say, a medical module) in a non-specialty droid (e.g. med module in an R5) would have 50% of the capability of a native Medical/Surgical droid.

Designers have stated that they want to have Surgical Droids automatically heal wounds, though at a rate slow enough so as not to put Doctors and Medics out of business. However, when or even if that ever comes to pass is completely unknown. At present there is no difference that I am aware of.

The thing I dont like is that if you get them to heal you slowly what is the point when it would be faster to go to a med center? Make it to fast and the docs get screwed, I like the idea of being able to put stims in them and have them use these on you as well as maybe wound packs.

Alright. Well we can pray for the upgrade one day. In the meantime NOBODY SELL SURGICAL DROIDS. If other droids have the same capability, sell those to medics. That way if/when they fix this issue, we can sell medics the better droid at a higher price.
I REPEAT, NO ONE SELL SURGICALS. Convince medics that it's the same thing and give them a different droid.

The point is that it would be possible to do it without a doctor, most likely because one doesn't happen to be around, but yeah, you sort of hit the nail on the head. Trying to find rate fast enough to be usable but slow enough so that people will still go to doctors is tricky.

So you are advocating that we screw our customers?
Telling everyone not to sell something isn't going to work any better than the bi-weekly thread that says we should all fix our prices at a certain level.

actually, in the end won't they have to buy another surgical anyways? I mean wouldn't their surgicals still be broken?

Maybe and maybe not. If the code that autoheals people recognizes whether a surgical is nearby or not in order to work then all of a sudden all the surgical droids would suddenly start to work. On the other hand if the code was based on the surgical droids having some special attribute that was placed on them during creation then yes, it probably would require them to purchase new droids.

Just allow the surgical droid to heal, up to 1/2 the whole bar length. This way, if you're ever caught without a clone reservation, you can still make it half-way back in the field. You'll have to go to a doctor for the rest of the healing, (whom will have to use a surgical droid or a hospital, as well).

Range is the only difference, you can heal wounds up to 12m away, Regular droid about 7m away
