Thread: Wow, no one else is worried about possible NERF to our Armor Modules ??

If you haven't been following Jenden's and Javelin's exploits over on the Test Center, you should know that the AR rating on droids no longer exists. The resist rating is still there (40% for a lvl 6), but the armor rating is 0.

The dev's have stated that they are going to make BE creatures and DE droids equivalent in power. They are missing a few points though that I can think of. Maybe someone else can think of others.

First the BE's have almost limitless variety's they can make. From a Durni to a Bantha. We have how many models we can make for combat after this patch ?7 ? (LE's, DZ70, Probot and R series?).

Second, they can make pets that can double as mounts yet still be a decent combat animal.

Third, we have to fill every single slot in the droid to make it a decent combat droid. After we fill it, there is no room for utility modules.

Fourth, a combat droid won't do neat tricks to entertain you and they have no personality like the animals do.

Fifth, they can add in two special attacks that manage to still fit into a lvl 10 creature. Strong Poison and Disease or Dizzy, knockdown? We have nothing like that.

Sixth and possibly the biggest, pets can be buffed by doctors and CH's and fed chef foods. Droids can't.

This may or may not be a nerf, but is sure looks like they are trying to slip big one in on us. The 'In Testing' Droid changes thread has been dead for several days. People better start voicing opinions on there with clear and concise reasons why droids should be slightly better than BE pets in combat.

Trust me, I'm concerned. However, there isn't anything we can do over the weekend except spend time on TestCenter and look at the results. I want more information this comming week on what exactly is happening. If we don't get that, then I'm going to be screaming!

I'm getting more and more perplexed by the Droid Invasion, for a number of reasons. Let me put it all into a simple analogy. It's as if DE's presently have a 10-inch caveman club to work with, and will soon be getting a 20-inch club. This is while other professions have machine guns, rocket launchers, and flame throwers.

I'm not up in arms because it's six to one, a half dozen to another...

It looks like they are raising HAM across the board. If they make the Probot slightly better than the LE, they have basically un-nerfed the Probot, and then nerfed the armor (if the other dmg/etc stats stick).

What is there to say, really? As cute as the Blastomech is, it's an R2 with a blaster strapped on top. As nice as the new HAM is, nerfing the armor at the same time gives only a cosmetic difference and most people in practice will likely find, as I said above, that it lasts as long as a current 'bot. The damage will be better, though. That's a plus.

So who knows? Maybe this will at least make the droids more attractive at first because of the higher HAM and we'll sell more.

True, it could be a boon, BUT when you consider what an organic pet can do vs what a droid can do, we are getting shafted. As I posted above, to get the best combat droid, you have to fill all the slots with combat modules...no room for utility. Pets can take doc buffs, which can be 3K more HAM for a couple hours of playtime, droids can't. They can have 2 special attacks, droids have nothing like this. They have a much bigger variety of pet SKINS than we do.

Is the armor thing a nerf or a bug? I thought Drashk was asking them to fix it.

Right now, I'm not concerned. Things are still quite fluid and changing on a daily basis. No point getting all worked up now if tomorrow they change everything again. Wasted energy. I'll wait until we're a day or two from the patch being pushed live before any concerns are raised. Chef stuff was still being tweaked up to a couple of days before release, so I expect no difference here.

I'm optimistic. I think they were attempting to make experimentation on armor more meaningful and then broke armor module stacking. While trying to fix the stacking, they broke the armor rating. I'll save my conspiracy theories for now...

Yea, I'm worried as well but there isn't a whole lot to do at the momment. The HAM and armor seems to be changing almost daily from what I've been reading here. Hopefully it will stabilize this week and we'll find out what it should really be.

I think it was intentional as a balance. Look at the Droid "Stims". Whether right or wrong, with that AR rating our droids would need to be healed one every blue moon with only one charge from a Repair Kit B. That would make a single unit or crate of those lasts significantly longer than Pet Stims, making droids the no-brainer. After all, if you had to heal your pet with only one charge and it took as little damage as Probots used to, the Repair Kits would be a joke. C and D would be utterly useless since a B would completely refill a Droid's HAM no matter what.

I don't like seeing the armor go away, but still, we're getting a CL10 pet with potentially 2K to 3K HAM. That's better than most CL10 pets by 2x or 3x.

I think it was to even out the usage of Repair Kits and make C's, D's, and advanced parts necessary.

Not that I like it mind you.

I'm not sure about this one. Personally, I like the armor. But HAM is, for lack of a better word, "sexy". Higher HAM will sell more droids. The average joe looks at a probot and sees the 820 HAM, and doesn't see anything past that. If the probots end up around 3000 HAM, they will be far more marketable to the average player.

Wthe the droid 'stim packs' to keep droids in balance with creature pets. We Must Lose the Armor and/or HAM advantages/differences we might other wise have had.

The droid 'stim packs' are IN. Not much hope of chucking all that work and pre existing schematics.

THE ANSWER !

Let stim packs Not be used During Combat ! Give us back our Mediun Armor and more HAM.

The stim pack could use the existing timer/flag that is used for calling/storing a droid

Its either that or creature clones wearing droid costumes. And we can have lev 10 creatures already.

Im worried it late to get this in in patch 7. But it should go in with the stims.
