Thread: Droids talking again?

Did they stealth fix droids? Twice today my 3PO droid has talked to me, spontaneously. At random.
The first time I said to a friend, "See you later." My 3PO said, "I have to go too. I must tend to my master's every whim."
I was stunned. He's never done that before. 
Then just now, I was trying to go out to my factories. Moisture thieves there started shooting at me. My droid ran up and said, "I shall place myself in danger in lieu of my master!" And he stood between me and them.
*boggle* Did they fix the droids? I know they used to talk. A lot. But I haven't seen one talk in ages and ages.
After I got up off the floor from laughing... I was still stunned. That was so cool. And too funny!

I have noticed this too. My 3PO droid that I use for a barker and had on patrol said something to me while I was passing by. I can't remember what he said off hand, but I know it wasn't his recorded barker message. I do remember he was very polite about it (I love that worship chip).

SWEET! 
I will have to make another 3po just to have it walk around with me. and in talking did it have the text bubles or did it actualy say something, like when storm troopers say move along.

It was just a text bubble. It would have been nice if he would have had sound.

Its all about imertion, droids talking is a HUGE step in the right direction. now it would be cool if they made droid deads that are used as furniture do the same thing, i would be happy for a long time.

I do agree that this little change takes a big step towards immersion into the game. Plus, without immersion Star Wars loses so much. I mean this is a MMORolePlayingG, and I enjoy this.

I experienced this tonight as well. I had a LE Repair droid out and a guildmate of mine left the Med Center I was in after I bid him goodbye. A moment later my LE said, rather thoughtfully, "Goodbye." I stared at the text in the window for a couple minutes, unsure of what exactly how it happened.
It's the small things, really. I think talking droids speaking randomally (and contextually, I might add) adds a lot. Must be one of those stealth-fixes.

You could of course, technically sell them by trading with someone for credits...

well for me the redeeding would only be for when i experiment with droids, i hate having to destroy droids to make room in data pad. so i either trade them off and for last resort i destroy my creation. also it would be good for us if we wanted to show off different droids.

I was temporarily using an LE Repair droid as a combat droid, and he had a sarcastic chip in him, and like, all of the mobs started targeting him and going after him, and he's like "Everyone ALWAYS goes after the droid". I also had a creature harvestor module in him, and he talked back to me when I had him harvest too. It was pretty cool.
This was quite awhile ago tho.

I just wish I knew what keywords, phrases, actions or circumstances make them talk. I've tried repeating the two situations with my 3PO that triggered the random speech before, but it didn't work. The droid just stood there, as usual. Bah. 
Seems to me I remember in Beta and post-launch (before talking droids "broke") that droids talked spontaneously only occasionally at first, but over time, would begin talking more and more. I'm not sure I recall that correctly though.
But does anyone remember what keywords or actionswere most likely totrigger the talking? I would sure love to know what all they might say, or do in all the various personalities. 
Edit: Very interesting... I was standing at the bank, had my droid out. Someone ran past and the droid says to him, "Bye, we shall see you again."
So he's spoken three times, twice when someone else was present, and he spoke to them, not me, and once when we were alone, but I was under attack by NPCs and I guess he was talking to them then too? Hmm.
I'm really happy they fixed the talking droids. Curiosity about when and why it will speak again is delighting me tono end!
