Droid Engineer Archive
Thread: Luke Skywalker
I wanted to be a droid engineer to get more into the role playing aspect of StarWars boy was i way off on that choice should of trained in Souting....Hmmm Anyone know of any major charicters in any of the StarWars episodes that was a creature trainer? So as it is now if you are starting out i would sugest staying as far away from DE as u can all the other classes can do something worth while, Droid Eng is very very very hosed atm.
It is a dead end job right now.
So yes there are Ch is SW
There is one Creature Handler in RoTJ. The guy in Jabba's pit had a pet Rancor. The one Luke killed.
However, the above examples aremounts.Animals that are used for transportation and nothing more. Last time I checked, beasts of burden aren't typically considered pets.
The movies have barely any references to Creature Handlers. Droids are Star Wars, not animal pets.
Droid Engineering needs improvements and the community here is trying to get those improvementsto be made. I expect Creature Handlers to get changes too, but not the beneficial type...right now they are too popular and that affects continuity.
Actually, the Gungans use creatures for fighting during the battle with the TF. The only difference is that their creatures use weapons instead of claws and fangs.
But there is a lot of work that needs to be done on the DE profession. Droids need to be unique from one another, for one thing. An MSE droid should not be able to replace any droid except for the Probot as long as it has the right module. There needs to be decay to premote a continuous market, usage XP needs to be fixed, and being a Master DE needs to have some perk. Another droid out at a time (not 2 combad droids though), a certain exclusive droid that only masters can use (Droideka anyone?), or something. Right now, you get to Master DE (a daunting task) and what do you get? Advanced modules, and advanced versions of the proctol droid and other useless droid. Oh, yipee.
I agree the profession needs a lot of work. However, I am not sure about the rest of you out there, but I think coloring and customaziation with weird designs is well not an important issue, and I wish that it would be put on the back burner in everyones mind. Lets concentrate on important functionatily before trying to get something as trivial as customisation back.
I am sorry to say this, but I could care less to change the color of my driods. I worry more about functionaity of the driods and the many other things that we are looking to have done and wish that the customization would fall off everyones rador untill we can get other things looked at. Armor modules, modules period, hotswap capablity on modules would be nice. Repair driods that can actually repair something. A power droid that actually supplies power to something. A combat line that makes sence. Probots should have a survaying (Probing capablitys.) There are many more important issues other then adding diffrent colors to the driods.
So obviously I am missing something, andsomeone needs to explain to me why adding diffrent colors to driods is more important then having a use for the driod?
Also the last time I checked there were only three to four characters that were in every movie. C3PO, R2-D2, Vador (various ages) and Yoda (excpet in A new hope) One might consider the whole movie was based on the journy of these two driods. Therefore, I would like to see a Master DE havemultiple droids out at once before I get the option to usecolors onthese droids.
