Sometimes I wonder why I have to be so damned honest? I just HAD to tell a customer that he needed Advertising4 in order to use a barking Droid. *poof*

Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

I rather be veryhonest and not get the sell. Then sell them something they can not use andhave themcome back and bescreaming mad. It only takes a couple customers to spread the word that you selljunk or that you area dishonest sells person. I do not make enough sales as it is let alone having someone telling theirmates thatIam dishonest sells person.

I think being honest to people is the best way. Because in the long run it allways pays better. Plus this is just a game

Agreed, it will pay in the long run to be honest and above board, everyone has friends on here. Never know how many he will send your way because you told him the truth!

I lost a sale of 10 million {wince, cry, get drunk on vasarian brandy} someone wanted 1000 mse suicide droids and the gas wasn't spawning, took me ages to find someone selling and he'd already found someone else {sob}

I have been keeping a precise count of how many sales I have lost due to the Ad4 requirement. I am totally straightforward, in fact I absolutely double check before I sell any. I have 4 ticks in my little notebook so far, and I don't even draw atttention to Merchant Barkers when im out selling droids.

I saw a competitor's shop on Bloodfin, with Protocol Barkers with Item storage, I think this ranks right up there as the Most useless droid I have ever seen.

I did worse. I sold one to a guy before i rememeber the requiremint. He got one of my guildies to program in the WP and all. I refunded the price of the droid and hes still semi-happy. now hes got a 3PO unit standing in one of the starports with the WP.

When I get on later I'm thinking I'm going to make a few bone armor signs to warn of stuff like this. "Warning. To run barker modules you need advertising 4." "Warning. to make it go boom you need to be a (smuggler? commando? now I forgot that one. good thing I dont have the gas

)" "Warning. to make the happy lights you need to be a dancer or musician"

I make sure I list all the restrictions and limitations in the description of my droid on my vendor. If the customer does not read it, i have no pity for them. On my barker droids i have in the description:

NOTE: THIS DROID REQUIRES ADVERTISING 4 IN ORDER TO USE THE BARKER MODULE.

Or,

NOTE: YOU MUST BE A BH OR SMUGGLER TO USE THIS DETONATOR DROID.

Even on my Combat droids I say, Armor that is 20% resist to all (although droid will show 40%, this is a bug, actual protection is 20%)

If someone buys it anyway, I will only take it as a return if they still have it in deed forn. Otherwise I tell them to try and sell it to someone that can use it.

When it first arrived, I thought the Barker droid only required Novice Merchant, but never said because I wasn't sure. Someone bought one off my vendor & they couldn't get it to work. I said I would buy it back, but only have 1 opening in my datapad for a droid & keep it open in case people want me to name their droid or be sure certain aspects work on it.

He understood and blamed himself for not being sure of what he was buying. He said he would to go Coronet & sell it...hehe. He probably made more money off of it than I did...

I'm still trying to set up my shop for the most part. I should do that insted of the signs. I have been putting short discriptions of the modules in the name and thats about it.

Oh and sorry about the double post earlier. I didnt notice I did it till I went to reading responces.

Hi

I'm new to droids but not to the game (just made MDE day of publish. Not a hologrinder either :smileyhappy

. First off, I like this board a lot. I am always finding useful information here because:

1) Nobody is bragging about how they "pwned" someone the other night

2) Nobody is braggin about how they can solo a krayt with just a ribbed shirt and a Mind Fire DOT survival knife

3)Other proffs are not coming here saying that DEs need to be nerfed

On to the topic at hand...

My experience with selling droids has been pretty darn good. Of the few droids I've placed on a vendor and sold (I mostly do custom orders) I have taken 100% of returns if they did not tame the droids. If they are tamed, I still refund them but try to turn them on to different models. Every step of the way, I try to be as honest as I can.

Anyway, thanks again for all the useful info. No doubt I will contribute as often as I can
