i mastered de a month ago but havent really started building droids other then bh and det ones including "cratermaker" r3s ( jedi love these
). i need some advice on what type of droids to make...ie... surgical droid with med module and food crafting station, le repair droid tanks and so on. i dont want to put alot of modules into utility droids because im not sure what combination will sell, but at the same time i want to give the customer choices. (although this seems to hurt our profession if one droid can fullfill all the needs of the customer.) any advice would be helpfull. im on the bloodfin server.

I'm not a master yet, but I generally try to put modules into droids in ways that they make sence from an RP standpoint. Medical modules in Surgical Droids, combat in DZ-70 and Probots (also things like Stimpack and Scout stuff), crafting stations and storage I typically put into R-series. Merchent Barkers... I try (though I now I fail) to keep those in a wide variety of droids as a merchent may just like to put a certain type of foot forward and/or try for something unique. I personally have been using a power droid for my merchent barker
. I also refuse to put anything higher than a lvl 2 into an MSE droid... it just doesn't make sence that the max number of items for an R-Series and an MSE is the same.
Not much help, I'm sure, but just some random musing.

A current big seller for me is an Adv R3 with 6 creature harvest modules. The ones I am able to make are +108 harvest bonus and sell great at 60k. I do throw a level 6 armor module on it just in case it gets aggro'd.

A good low-cost droid that is relatively easy to make and sells quite well for me is an R4 with MCR 110, item storage and a food/chem crafting station. I call it a basic medical model, but it's cheap enough that people buy them just for storage as well. And as a bonus, it looks different than the standard surgical and R3 'bots out there.
I used to use the surgical droid chassis in this configuration before it dawned on me that the item storage was bugged on it. And you can't even name it!

I firmly believe that DE's should have a well stocked vendor. There are a number of good 'basic' configurations that you can make which will attract people to your shop.... on my vendors you'll find
Item storage droids - 2 of each chassis from MSE to BLL.
Med droids - again, 2 of each chassis, the 2 module ones, have med/foodcraft or med/storage, while ones that can hold 3 get med/foodcraft/itemstorage. R2 really seems to be the big seller for me, so i have 4 of them.
Entertainer droids - i do various types of these, usually r3 with some that are 6 effects, 5 effects w/storage, 3 effect/3music playback. can do 1 or2 effect droids at a low cost for the novice musician/entertainer.
Harvest droids - 2 different models, 1 that has all 6 harvest modules, the other5 harvest 1 item storage
Crafting station droids - All sorts of combo's you can do here. "arms & armour" is a fav of mine, with WDG, and FC stations, item storage on the chassis that can hold 3 or more modules. you got tailers models, architects models, chefs models, weaponsmith models, etc.or the uber "all artisan"r2 with all 4 stations + item storage
Merchant Barker droids - barker module + Item storage, or cheaper versions of the same droid without item storage.
With a nice selection, ppl will be inclined to remember your DE shop, and tell their friends about it too.... I see far to many "droid" vendors on my server, with either no droid deeds, or just full of 1 style of factory run droid, and it makes me sad.
And don't forget the accessories. Droid customization kits do well for me, as there are ppl out there that care about the style/look of their droid, and not just what it can do for them. Droid batteries are a must! and carry some around with you if you have a master tag up... what kinda DE would you be if you can't sell someone batteries while waiting for a starship???
lastly, I keep bags of 100and 250, droid storage compartments clearly marked as to what % experimentation they were made to, for the architects.
Hope this gives you some help & ideas, with my vendors, i like to cater to the ppl that want a droid for the looks as well as the functionality, which is why try to have at least 1of each modeltype, in each different chassis on my vendor.

thanks for the advice, building my firstbatch of droids has been overwhelming. there r so many different droid combos that i wasnt sure what would sell. plus ive had troubleminning quality recouces and i dont want to cut into the profit purchasing them from a miner.luckly this prof doesnt require alot of quality goods but i wanted my store to have alittle bit of everything, so i had to hunt after some very rare recouces. still havent got what i needed though

I personally only do them by request, and I rarely suggest them as good modules for customers. I don't want someone buying one off my vendor, and then having it break because I didn't get to explain to them how to avoid the bug.

First you need to find out how your droids compare to what the server can make. If you have access to the better resources or can get them cheaply, then you can stock all models. But if your Combat and Harvestor Droids are far short of what the server can make, you probably want to focus on the droids that quality doesn't matter on.
Now some people may disagree and say that it is better to have a certain type of droid such as combat droids on your vendor even if they are crappy.
Here is why I think that thinking is wrong. What happens if somebody comes in and clicks on on that combat Droid and knows that it isn't that great. They may or may not look at anything else. They may just walk out the door. I'm not talking about a Droid that is a couple of points below max for the server, I'm talking Droids that are a lot worse. Stocking 85 rated Harv Droids when 107's can be built for example.
Focus on your strengths.
Medical, Storage, Entertainer, and BH droids all don't depend on quality, these are good ones to start out with.

i am only able to get my r3 harvesters up to 101 because of the lack of high conductive steel but went ahead and build a few even though its alittle bellow server average. (im on bloodfin by the way)Unfortinatly my combat modules will only go to 95 and my auto-repair isa pitiful17 which mades me think twice about making these types of droids.i really wanted to have a full stock of quality droids availible, but ill take ur advice. thanks
