Thread: The DEVs are as Tightfisted with Facts as a Bothan Courier
Why do you have to be so stingy with the facts? 90% of the angst in this forum is a direct result of ignorance: Our ignorace in that we don't have a clue what is REALLY comming our way, and you ignorance in not seeing comunitcations will make us happy.
TK has indicated that you won't post here because were all up in arms. Yes, we ARE up in arms. It has been a long while since I have seen anyone say they were happy with droids. Pretty much all the other profession have some pro/con debate going on, but everything in the DE forums is unannamous: We're broke real bad, and there's precious little good about the profession.
TK has also indicated that we have to make the first overtures of peace. Not a simple task, considering the raw numbers of folks that would have to be nice at the same time. I bet a little communication from the DEV team would go along way to pacifying the DE Beast.
Perhaps if you did a cost/benifit analysis of communicating, and risking something not making live vs not communicating and therefor, not having to explain WHY it didn't make live, you would realize that while we may be fanatical and loud, we do have it within us to forgive a failure, if the attempt is valiant.
I agree! As with any type of relationship, communication is key.
However, I don't think we can seriously expect the devs to establish a presence in the boards. What they do need to do is keep TK in the loop of of things, since his role is supposed to enhance communication with the dev team. I think he's doing a wonderful job, and the devs need to step up and keep TK in the loop as to what's happening.
Not that they need to tell him if they can't, but letting us know some preliminaries, even if vague or big maybes would go a long way to giving us some direction.
Cheers,
Artoli Banapesh
They are doing this pretty much as I write this. I think you'll all dig what I'm starting to hear for Publish 8. More info when I'm cleared on it.

Does that mean we will see some updates to the Publ. 8 notes soon?
I'm checking right now but, yea....there's a good amount more/new info coming at me right now.

Ahem, anyway, I have observed that there is a lot of discontentment in the DE boards. *duh* However, it doesn't do much good, airing your unhappiness here in the DE boards. Really. The Dev boards will be a much better place to complain, since Devs have no choice but to read their own boards. ![]()
Let's try to keep all rants to the Dev boards, and leave the DE boards free for active discussion about how to best implement changes to the profession. Less rants in DE boards --> less clutter --> more beneficial posts appearing in the front page. By having the rants filling up the first page, we are not giving the Devs the opportunity to read through what our suggestions are. They have limited time (32 professions to go through?), and will most probably only read the first page of the board on any given day.

That being said, let's just wait for the good news TK has for us. No point pushing him when he can't say anything without the green light from the powers that be.
When the day comes when I will listen to such hogwash then thats the day I go AWOL from these forums.
I have a BIG ISSUE with the secrecy of the whole corresopondant program, and I'm damned if you or anyone else is gonna stop me from saying anything I want in my own profession forum.
I dont give a hoot if the Devs read this forum, it's TK's job to post our concerns, and so far he seems to be doing it well enough (though I'd still like to see more of exactly what he posts)
It is exactly this green light thing that bugs me. Pub 8 should be detailed by now in at least the 'In Development' thread. It should have been 'In Concept' weeks ago, but no Dev could be bothered to keep anything up to date. The communication channel from 'them' to us is whats broken, and thats Thunderheart's problem.
It's not ours.
Sigh, it's sad to see you react in such an abrasive manner.
I've seen you post really constructively when you first appeared, and felt for you when you said you cried when the combat droids came out. But really, what's the deal with correspondent "secrecy"? Would you rather TK repeat all the up and coming treats he heard, only to find out again a month laterthat they have been removed because the devs are not able to code it? I'd rather wait for a more confirmed, concrete answer than a half baked announcement that won't materialise half the time. Even after TK has the green light, I'm sure we will still be disappointed with the way it's implemented, so why bother knowing?
Another issue would be information should be shared so that we can debate about it. Frankly, after we shot down droid commander and experimentation changes, it isn't necessarily true that granting power to the people is the best solution.
Sure, you have the right to post your rants in the DE forum. But what will that achieve? Will DEs be able to recode? Will that draw the devs to the DE boards so that they can hear our rants and feel bad about them? If you want to make a difference to DE, do it in the most effective manner. Rant here, bring down the morale of DEs and drive Devs away. Rant in Dev forum, Devs will have to pay attention coz every other profession is watching as well.
I've been a silent observer these past few months and refused to post until all the ranters have gone away. Apparently new ones have appeared, having been recently turned to the Dark side. But there is still goodness in you, I can feel it. Don't be disheartened, stand by your love of droids and put in your best effort. We can make this place better thanit ever was! ![]()

Unless they are putting in more than 1 decent, and 3 crap utility modules they have allready identified,
then i highly doubt anyone will be impressed.
The Entertainer Module is so far the ONLY respectable module they have release so far.
Exploding MSE Droids?
Greeaaaaat...
Nothing like driving an RC-Car with a stick of C4 strapped to it, into a bunny, only to find out that its max damage is 100 points.
