Edit: Ok I applogize, that was a rash comment. People not in beta do not know yet that droids don't take damage or decay while in space....but it has been said several times allready.

I scanned the forums and didnt find anything. I check the FAQ about that has JTL in the title and it didnt say anything. I just assumed this would be the next logical place to ask. In beta, I focused mainly on SOE primary objective which was regression testing on the ground game were the testers were spread thin,so I didnt focus much of my time in testing the crafting. There seemed to be more than enough people testing that.

If its not in the DE 101 Thead, then it probably doesn't exist....or I forgot about adding.....but in this case it does not exist.
All of the JtL information that is in the DE 101 and JtL 'All Things Droid' threads are 100% accurate, as of the Mondays Patch.
Ummm...actually you are listed twice, if I recall correctly. I'm just not sure if I have the correct data gathered though.

Notice the change in the schematics too? All that Beryllius and Digoxis you painstakingly went thru months of spawns to collect the good stuf? Now just any old copper and inert gas will do for Level 6 Data Modules. Wouldn't want JtL to suffer from lack of good datapads now would we? Wouldn't want the Armoursmiths competing with anybody for the Beryllius now would we?
Yikes. Poor DEs.

The other day I discovered something very interesting. I forgot to put armour modules in one of my droids. I did the effectiveness experimentation as per usual. Know what? NO DIFFERENCE. Droids with armour modules and droids without armour modules come out with the EXACT SAME HAM! Good. Can save my Link-Steel aluminum for weapons.

Yeah. The HAM is the same. But, that's just like you in and out of armor. Your HAM doesn't change, but you can take more damage because the armor absorbs some (resistances) making the damage that reaches you less.
Exact same principle.

Should I be putting armor in my astromechs with the level 6 memory module to make the droid last longer in space combat?

"Will droids be a targetable component of a ship (such that they take HAM damage/wounds or vitality 'hits')?"
Currently, astromechs are not targetable, nor are they a ship component that can take damage. Neither are flight computers. The droid interface ship component isn't targetable itself, but it is in the list of the ships 'guts' and it can be blasted, cutting off access to droid commands.
A key concern here was that an astromech seemed like a rather expensive and specially-constructed item to have it zapped in space the same way as, say, a piece of armor, a ship's blaster, or something less consequential of that nature. I could see the desire for a system that would allow these components to be wounded, but with our additional concerns for these items, we'd want to put some limiters on what could happen to them and how fast it could happen, lest a turbo-laser shot from a capitol ship totally vaporize your little tin buddy in a single hit. That'd drive me nutz. the additional limiters would be specialized code and thus would be a much lower-priority task compared to fixing the things that come to light while ya'll hammer on the exsisting JtL systems. Plus, we'd even have to decide if it's just plain a good idea or not.
So, short version... the answer to your question is: 'No.'

You are listed twice, my friend... once in the Thank-you list, and once in the pricing guide...
Which means you exist twice.............
