A Low level Bio-engineer cancreate Cu-Pas. These are CL11 in the wild. The mountable versions are CL10. Cu-Pas have a ranged attack that targets Action only. No armor, okay resists, and the CL11 breed have 1100HAM.

To make a Cu-Pa requires 5 DNA samples to make a DNA template. 35 meat. 55 Flora.

Yup that's it. For a rideable, Food-Buffable,ranged-attack using 1k HAM pet.

And, of course, Master CHs can just find them in the wild and train them.

An R3 with no fuctionality outside of combat:

387 chem, 163 steel, 90 fiber, 208 copper, 97 inert gas, 61 ore, 329 metal, 58 ferrous metal, 60 extrusive ore, 58 polymer, 140 duralloy steel, 210 non-ferrous metal, 50 link-steel aluminum, 64 siliclastic ore, and 2 composite armor segment.

1975 material units + 2 composite armor segment.

We need to get people behind this DE proposal of Sodans. It may not be perfect, and you might not agree with every point of it, but it's whole lot better than where we are now.

Wouldn't mind the resource cost and complexity if the end result pet was a Droideka or Roger Roger droid. That would be cool.

While I'm in the current party which believes DE's have been *horribly* wronged and pets nerfed...

there's no 'that's it' about 5 DNA samples.

DNA combining is NOT easy.

I have spent 1000% more time sampling DNA and testing combines then you will ever mining minerals

You can mine for a month and be set up for half a year. BE's have to go out and sample again... and again... and again.... That's not to mention the best low level clones require more than one generation (ie a good CL 10 can take 15 wildDNA samples altogether)

No disrespect was intended. I never said it was easy. I was merely comparing what is possible by a low level BE compared to what is possible by a Master DE.

Things to consider.

--Mining is not easy, and one month will not render resources for half a year. Good resources are hard to come by, as I am sure you know.

--We need 14 different kinds of materials. Though admittedly some of them can cross over.

--We combine those materials in various way to create 42 sub-components, some of which require factory time.

--This is to make our BEST combat only droid.

I'm sure what you do is hard too.

In my opinion they cannot be compared.

BE's use one time 'consumable' items which must be obtained by the player one at a time.

DE's like all other crafting professions only require mined resources to create an item.

While it may be easy fora BE to jump out and make a clone while a DE must first mine their 15+ resources to make a probot, they can purchase these resources or mine a significant amount, meanwhile a BE cannot purchase nor stockpile in the same way other professions can.

Just a sidenote, supposedly the 'draw' of Droid Engineers is the fact that you must engineer all these brains and other components to build such a complicated device... If you think you have it bad, see Armorsmiths, who require organics for all their best armor on top of very similar subcomponent requirements you have.

Crafting in SWG isn't easy by any means, period.

Kanae;

<<I have spent 1000% more time sampling DNA and testing combines then you will ever mining minerals>>

Ummm, think before you speak. Surveying and harvesting takes more than a couple minutes a day.

<<You can mine for a month and be set up for half a year. BE's have to go out and sample again... and again... and again.... That's not to mention the best low level clones require more than one generation (ie a good CL 10 can take 15 wildDNA samples altogether)>>

Again, surveying is an ongoing thing, with the resources changing weekly, and some disappearing for months at a time. As a former 3-2-3-3 BE, I think you're full of bull, and need to stay over on your own forum and run down your own kind, not come here where you apparently know nothing about the profession.

But that's just my opinion, and Hey! I could be wrong!

Now that just... grrr...

I help run one of the longest standing (if not THE) shop on Kettemoor Galaxy, I was a Bio Engineer for 6 months, I had no need for harvesters on my main so I assisted my weaponsmith and armorsmith friend in their mining endeavors. As our shop grewlarger and we added people and professionsI purchased 2 additional copies of the gam in order to use my accounts to help mine and place factoriesas our shop grew larger

I've done more surveying and harvesting than a single player was intended to do.

Since launch I've spent what seems like 10 times more hours sampling DNA and making clones than I ever did surveying resources and my output was still *far below* that of my friends with other professions

I have effectively played6 different crafting professions since my time here and I can tell you bio engineering cannot be compared to the others. Ask any ex-BE why they quit, and they'll tell you time sink and risk versus reward

As for Droid Engineers my advice to you is to get help from your friends, when you see a good resource, pounce on it, mine as much as you can. It'll pay off in the long run and you won't be running across the galaxy until the end of your days

You obviously don't have any idea how BE works.

Just because it looks like a Cu Pa, a BE Cu Pa doesn't have the abilities of a wild Cu Pa.

BE pets have stats and abilities based on the DNA added to it at the crafted stage. This includes HAM, ranged attack and special attacks.

If I BE just goes out and gets the first DNA he can find from 5 kreetles he will end up with a 50HAM pet.

As a current master de, I consider his opinions here helpful and informative. He didn't make the comparison between DE and BE, but only pointed out that it was not as simple as the original poster made it out to be. Which is a perfectly fair observation.

Thats true you can't compare BE to DE...on our server a BE just auctioned off a lvl8 11,000 (11K no typo) Non-CH Gurrcat for over 600K cr. and he complained it took him 4 hours to make.

Ever time how long it takes to make 1 of anMDE's best droids that will sell for no more than 75K crto a drunken buyer? Non-CH pets (BE-made) sell for typically 100-300K and have HAMs around 4k - 10K, their resists aren't as good typically as a Droids, but the armor is the same and the HAM is Much better.

I'd just like to correct the last post a little. Those pets you mention are pre-nerfed, semi-exploited pets that were apparently not harmed by the many hotfixes. That is the only reason they are so pricey, they are no longer available. Currently, non-CH pets are close to 3k HEALTH, 1-2k action and mind, with little to no resists, last time I made one (was a master BE for many, many months).
