Thread: Droids in the Cantina.
use the time you save sitting in the camp healing over time to do missions you can probably get a mse with medical module in one evening. but medical module is only disabled in cantinas not like you can make a camp in there anyway..
I think having medical droids disabled in the cantina is stupid and arbitrary. I earned my droid with L6 medical module, why the heck can't I use it where I want? I couldn't care less if the med centers are abandoned, they're boring and stuffy and I don't know anyone thatspends more time in them than is absolutely necessary.
And so what if you can't use your @#$#^!!~ med droid in the cantina. That's a very small thing to complain about... get a handle on the big picture and choose a better battle.

It would make sense you could use YOUR droid in the cantina, if they even allowed them in. But anyone can use it, which is kind of bizarre. Can you imagine people raiding your droid for tools and needles and equipment? Doesn't make sense.

Trust me, I have a pretty good handle on the big picture. You guys got royaly screwed in the last update along with smuggler and a lot of other people. There's also the whole issue with the boardmods and closed/locked/banned/vague messsage issue. As for a battle, somehow I don't consider two posts to be a battle.
Now as for using the droid, yes I would like to use the droid for myself and others in a cantina. Why? Because it seems like no one can tip in the med. centers on Bria any more! (No, it's not a bug.) I've gotten more tips from the dancers and musicians that I heal in the cantina in Mos Espa than I've ever gotten in a med. center unless the person walked in and said, "Heal me and I'll give you X credits." I don't ask for tips and I'm not going to start. It's hell to build a medical skill using Stim-A's when that's all you can afford to craft!! I understand that alot of people have gotten rude about the whole tip issue and turned a lot of people off to it but come on, throw me a bone (literally) will ya?! Also, from what I've been told, only the owner of the droid can use the Medic Mod. Anyone can use it for a crafting station though. If this is otherwise, please let me know.
I guess an idea would be to limit it's effectiveness in the cantina even further than it is. Say 95% with a level 6 mod is normal, so go 25 to 40% in the cantina with a level 6 mod. Ideas?
I disagree completely.
If this was not Star Wars, then I would say that yes Droids should be in the Cantinas. But, the movies have pretty much shown that Droids were not allowed in cantinas. At least in Mos Eisley anyway.![]()
I understand that it would be easier to heal and what not while watching entertainers, but due to the setting, no Droids should be in cantinas.
It makes sense for droids (and pets too) to be denied entry in a cantina. If I was operating a cantina, I wouldn't want space filled up by robots who obviously wouldn't be eating, drinking, or tipping (unless they were working for me of course).
I think this would also help the dancers/musicians/entertainers out there too from all of those people who think it's just hilarious to bring a bantha (or whatever) onto the stage. It gets a little old.
Working, yes... being served, no... To quote the proprietor of the Mos Eisley cantina, "we don't serve their kind here." That does not mean he didn't have any droids working for him. It just meant he didn't want others' droids in the cantina taking up valuable customer space.

Sounds like an exclusive "members-only" cantina to me

Cigaran I agree completely (sad to say) that it is much easier right now to build a camp somewhere outside town and have healers and entertainers healing all.
As a DE it just kills me to agree that droids are pretty much a waste of $ right now with some minor exceptions. For the most part other players and creatures can handle all of the current things that work in droids and can do these feats quickly, more easily, and less costly than a droid.
As for should droids be in a cantina at all? Well why do we have a "bartender" droid as the first droid option under novice merchant?
It makes sense for droidsthat areowned by a playerrun cantina to serve customers (or NPCs) (if you own the cantina and you own the droids you should be able to have them out and perform actions whether thats serving drinks etc. (now currently droids can't do that but it would sure make them usefull, plus the caveat you can only have one droid out at a time (bah))
I'd also argue as to the real possibility of droid entertainment. Although we don't clearly see an example of a droid entertainer functioning in any of the SW movies (please help if I'm wrong here) it wouldn't be a stretch considering we have crude animatronics right now to entertain us in Disneyland etc.
Someone had suggested some type of Entertainment module (jukebox?) for a droid as a suggestion for making droids more usefull - I thought that was a great idea.
Were droids banned in ALL bars in the SW universe? Dunno. Definitely in Mos Eisley - but then again that would make sense - presumably one could potentially put a thermal detonator in a droid and set it to go off -- if there was a risk for something like that happening it would happen in the most wretched hive of scum and villany -- or perhaps because droids could cheat at a game of chance? Who knows?
Anybody out there versed enough in Expanded Universe lore to know if ban on droids in bars was a universal thing?
