Thread: Vehicles: What to charge, what resources?
Well I loged in and built three vehicles. I used my best 985+ Shock Resistance aluminum and steel.
I crit failed twice making them, then I crit failed on the experimentation of another, but enough biotchin'.
I dont think the experimentation matters, does it? Nor soes the SR, though itcalls for SR.
I could only have 1 vehicle in my pad, bummer.
I posted this here because I know most of us are Master Artisans and are going to be making vehicles and the info would be useful to us all. My questions are:
Do the recources matter, and how much do we charge for these vehicles?
In a recent post, TH said that SR will have an effect. I imagine it will be in order to experiment up the damage points. I won't be able to log on until I am home from work in another 4 hours ![]()
From the latest chart TH posted regarding the resources, I chose to charge 10cpu. I have 1 preordered right now and have had a vendor advertised on the map called "Vehicle Pit-Stop" who barks an ad telling customers to preorder via email. When I finally get to log on, I'll be taking my stash of resources, followed by Beck (my trusty little green R4 I've had forever) and running to town to shout out for sales. It won't be until then that I will find out if my 10cpu will be too little or too high.
Shock Resistance and experimentation determine the vehicle's hit points.
Charge whatever the market will bear on your server. It's pretty easy to find out what others are charging either at the major starports or vendors.
FYI on pricing - I just put 15 Swoop Bikes and 10 Landspeeders up on my vendor in Seacht (Naboo) on Ahazi. That's all I can manage at the moment - I wasn't able to take the day off today and so I won't be able to start full scale production until this evening.
Swoop Bike: 40k
Speederbike: 30k
X34 Landspeeder: 21k
Speederbikes are in the factory now... I'll get those up in a couple of hours before I leave for home. I'll also put some more Swoops and Landspeeders up then as well.
From what I have been observing, my prices are pretty average at least on Ahazi. That's 5 CPU, btw.
Alacrity, I guess you gave this the one star, thanks to those who bumped it up, I feel that this is a perfectly sound place for a vehicle discussion, did you read my thread and the reason I put it here?
Every serious MDE is a master artisan as well, and therefore just got the vehicle making capability. We have been discussing droid prices here for a long time, and as servers vary, we have had good discussions on why we charge what we do for our droids, and I thnk it will come into play with the vehicles. I am not too interested on a master artisan who did it just to craft the vehicles, I respect the DE comunity's thoughts and opinions about pricing.
Also asDE's, we have not been able to take advantage of experimentation, though the quality of components is rumored to have some effect on our final product, but no one kows exactly what is going on there. It seems that experimentation and resource have no effect on the vehicles because I see no number's listed anywhere for HAM or whatever a vehicle might add (maybe we can get off and target it and get a number, didn't try that).
I figured we would at least have to make some components for the vehicles, these are super easy to make, though they take lots of resources. I will save my droid resources for later days when that matters and useanything I can harvestfor the vehicles and charge7 or 8CPU, I guess that is a fair price.
I know a lot of you guys get shot at and bitten while out trying to harvest your resources, it happens to me all the time and I refused to get a mount, but I am very excited to have a machine to keep me speeding along safely!

Sorry, didnt mean to attack you personally. The choices that artisans make effect the entire community though. You selling at 5 cpu makes it difficult to get more. Means I have to go to Dantooine and Blare to get what I want. I am not complaining, I made a fair profit, but there was more to be had if people hadn't sold so low. People were seen on Valcyn selling below cost!
Yuour right.....if everyone and there brother wasn't selling for 5 cr per unit. Once the price gets down that low and everyone else is selling that low, there isn't much of a choice until all the dimwits run out of metal. I have to sell mine low like everyone else, or I don't sell any. Once the hype wears off and all the vehicles implode, people may pay a bit more for these things. Right now we are stuck with the 40K per swoop until they run out of resources. Demand will tell.
I have to say it was a nice surprise. I was able to go out and buy another Heavy Harvestor with high base extraction rate. I want to make as much money as I can before the market gets too flooded. When the dust has settled and I finally have a big wad of cash saved up, I'll be ready for the much-anticipated droid improvements and ship expansion that are supposedly coming in the new year.
It's nice to actually get a taste of the success that many of the other professions have been enjoying all along. I hope the Droid Engineer will one day be in high demand like Master Artisans currently are.

Sold plenty of em at that price too.
I was selling for 10 cpu. I had to cover the cost of the resources my partner fronted me for the vehicle rush. Even though many on Sunrunner were selling for far lower prices, I did make enough money to cover the resource costs, so now, I can be comfortable lowering my costs to about 7 cpu. I have put many deeds on my vendor, as stated above, if they sell - great, if not, oh well.
I have been enjoying the heady experience of actually selling something that people want.
