Wow, I sure hope one of these patches is good for you DE's, cause it sure wasn't this one. This poor de put his best resources and a lot of time into crafting his best combat droid, which sold for 62k credits, and vs a pet I got for 4k off the bazaar, the droid lost every time.

Maybe someday I'll have a droid buddy to tag along on missions with me.....but not today.

G'luck guys, hopeSOE comes through for ya soon.

I think you just summed up the entire DE profession aka waste of time for producing anything combat worthy... Do for fun not credits...

I think the best application for combat droidsat the moment is for **edit** fights, hell you could even have bets going... As stated in the thread http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=72383It appears to be quite fun too...

Plus you can use that Cl 10 Pet as a Mount if your vehicles happen to be disabled.

Why is everyone insisting on comparing these droids to BE pets.. Just because they have the CL10 tag doesnt meen they have to be identical..all it means is that anyone can use them.... Hell you can use BOTH at the same time, Droids ARE NOT SUPPOSED to be replacements to BE pets...

Seems to me everyone wants these drodis to be UBER tanking droids...

Think of them for what they are.. Pretty useful DOT's

My R3 (540 Combat Rating) was hitting for 70-130 damage at a speed of 1.5 - Now if you looted a wepaon with a DOT efect that could do that you'd be pretty chuffed wouldnt you...

Yes this "Droid Invasion" Isn't the vast improvement to DE that we all wanted, but lets be honest it IS a step in the right direction if aren't blinded by the MY CL10 DROID PET MUST BE ABLE TO TANK RANCOR's Syndrome.....

I'd be on the same wagon you are on bud, IF customers/players didn't have to make a choice between using a droid or using a BE pet. Hands down, BE pets are the way to go. I know this will change in the next publish, but even then our droids are backseat gunners and not the frontline tankers or of importance. Sad to say, but I am betting that people will consider droids as expendable. It's ok if the droid blows up and goes incap during combat, but keep the cowardly gurreck alive as it is the one tanking and keeping us alive...

I have been using a pet Probot since the first DE's started making them, and have only owned 2 total ( i lost my prenerf to the day of droid infamy -permadeath) they are not great up close, but as a DOT they work marvelous. I think their HAM and damage is just fine, but i just wish droids could do more special attacks, like a droid with suppression fire or warning shot would be great.

No, no, no I’m not having this at all, not for one second.

I bought a good BE pet once, 6000 HAM 60-120 damage and a rather useful stunning attack, decent resists too for a BE pet and it cost me 15k.

Last night I made my first combat R3, 1400 HAM 600 combat (whatever that means, I’m assuming about the 75-130 damage level) and it took forever, I estimate the sale price to be about 50k. Oh and you can only have one or the other out at a time not both.

It’s not that the two are different it’s that one is vastly more expensive and inferior to the other and you can only use one at once.

As for the looted DOT argument, a rifle won’t explode 10 seconds into the fight, nor will it suck up my xp’s, nor does it require batteries or regular paintjobs, nor are rifle ‘healing packs’ vastly complex and costly.

I don’t like to post angry but there are no saving graces for the ‘Droid Invasion’ and trying to defend the current state of play is to undermine the pressure we need to be bringing to bear.

""CL10 DROID PET MUST BE ABLE TO TANK RANCOR's Syndrome""

Yeah, but the droid wasn't tanking a rancor, it was tanking a 3000cr pet bought off the bazaar. If I'm comparing apples to oranges, then my bad.I just figured that cause it was referred to as a CL10 droid, it would be comprable to a CL10 pet. /agree it is a step in the right direction, but I'm still disappointed.

I havent seen anyone mention the following. BE pets as they are nowwill be nurfed yet againin the near future. So comparing a BE pet to a droid now is not very useful. I know its not fair that we get a nurf before the BE pets do but its a fact.

Quote from Dev recently:

"Yes, please explain to the Bio Engineers that it is a known issue that level 10 pets are still being made too powerful and will be addressed at some point in the future. Currently "legal" pets will remain in the system until this bug is fixed. After the fix they will fall into the broken pet checks and will be able to be corrected via the broken pet interface."

If they hadn't nerfed the bots armor then the patch would have been a step in the right direction but to add a slight boost and a severe nerf at the same time results in a step backwards.

I used to use my Probot a fair amount. There was one mob that I regularly used it on because with Medium armor it could take a beating even though it was weak otherwise. It didn't do much damage but could outlast the mob.It could solo 3 of these mobs in a row before it was too badly damaged and needed repairs. The new version can't solo 1. Not even 1 of them!!!

Todays patch was a big step backward.

I hesitate to be the voice of dissention here, but DE made me big bucks today. I harvest all my own resources, and even using marginally good grade stuff to make my new Adv Probots with 5 combat modules, they still had 900-1000 ham and a combat rating between 450 and 465. I sold them all at the Coronet Starport for 200k each and sold out as quick as I made them and brought them from my home on Talus. I took down 3 harvesters (had stocked up last few days) and now have3 factories pumping out brains, control units and combat modules and I'm STILL behind...

Caveat: Yes, most of it was due to being the first day and the inflated economy producing folks with more credits than sense, but still, I'm laughing all the way to the bank selling those credits I made in one day...

I gave a couple samples to clan members for free to evaluate. Most said that it was doing about 3 times the damage of the normal probot and held up a lot better, although a stormtrooper can still kill it in about 5-6 shots tops. They weren't meant to be stormtrooper killers, however. They are, IMHO, vastly improved distraction tools to takethe target's focus midway through an engagement, allowingthe playerto pummel the target unabated, which is how a smart player uses a pet anyway, regardless of what it is.

So, take heart, fellow red-headed-stepchildren-DE's, there is a small silver lining in the short term due to the GROSSLY misleading title of Publish7 and the mini-frenzy it has created for the powerhungry, credits-overburdened combatants out there...

You have CL-10 pets to tank, which they can do decently, especially against low-mid-level enemies, (if they were any better, why spend points on CH?, lol), The droids are for offensive help, not tanking, the newdroids do 200-300 damage per 1 second ranged, creature pets attack a little over every 2 seconds ussually, so that's like having a creature pet with 400-600 damage ranged, you will NEVER find a CL-10 creature with even close to that much damage....most i've seen is like 230-240, and it wasn't ranged......I still think that droids should have armor tho, it's kinda rediculus that droids are made of metal-type material.....and that's what armor is made of, yet they have no armor...lol
