Are you still alive? Did we drive you into hiding? I'm so acustomed to seing you post every day that your recent absence worries me.

He's got a lot to do now... it keeps him busy. Not only that, but like he's mentioned a couple times before, his perspective has changed now that he's had a peek "behind the curtain." He stated once that he can see how hard it is to gather information when a good portion of the posts are flames or rants. He's also stated that he's learned he has to be really careful about what he posts now because people take posts from him way too seriously.

Drashk went through the same thing when he became the correspondent. For a while, he tried "this is my correspondent's hat" and "this is my regular hat" but I think he started seeing that it didn't matter which hat he was wearing... people take what correspondents say and read between the lines no matter what's being said.

Basically, TK's getting a chance to put on the dev's sneakers without getting the paycheck. He's doing a good job, keeping us informed of changes and updates. His absence here (which has only been today, btw) probably denotes a lot of activity for him in the correspondent's forum.

Anyway, keep up the good work TK, I hope it doesn't burn you out...

Checking your spelling (and punctuation, too) will ensure that you're making sense to more than two people.

Personally I couldn't be happier with TK's Corresondant work... And from my perspective... Dealing with DE's and a DE profession that is in a state of Flux... IS A JOB..

/HatsOff to ya TK
And Thank you!

Yea...I'm about but my 'post' has changed a bit. Mostly lurking more and keeping an eye on the Corr. boards.

I do have some issues to mull over but I'm not quite to the point where I can really discuss it (though I'm trying).

For now, I do have may hands a bit more full and can't (and really shouldn't) be the same ole' TK-421 you've all known from the past. It's still me just....elevated.

Hmmm....good news?

I would say you have reason to think there's good news. But I don't have all the details yet.

There's a few other ideas floating that show promise as well.

I know I'd like to say more and get the info flowing but I don't have enough concrete (or cleared) info to do so quite yet. I'm keeping the fire stoked though....and yes...

There is good news coming but remember that it's always in development right up until it goes live (read: anything can get 'canned' if it doesn't fly).

Yes it does. More than you can imagine.

They have done this a little but the roadmap was pretty well set for post-P7 and on into P8. I actually don't have much that I can say on P8 yet. I wouldn't say anything until I knew for sure and was cleared to put something together.

Encouraged is GOOD! I personally would rather have a light at the end of the tunnel, then a candle burning out in my hand!

Thanks TK, You silence is understandable, reasonable, logical, and appreciated!

I'm less encouraged. The fact that the roadmap was pretty much set before any focused feedback was elicited from the community is sad.

So, let's see if I have this right:
Publish 8 is in the bag plan-wise.
The short list of utility modules is ALL we're going to see.
SOE always had their own plan for droids and player input has nothing to do with this plan. (watch what they do, not what they say)

I'm not encouraged. Why? Recently a hard-to-build, limited-use schematic item was released into the game. It's called the Demolitionist's Tool Belt. It gives you Grenade Assembly and Grenade Experimentation bonuses - bonuses that do nothing for any profession.
I have a good number of Grenade Experimentation and Assembly skill tapes that I have placed in a clothing suit for my own amusement - they're totally useless.
The development team apparently doesn't even know what does and doesn't work in the game. How did the Demolitionist's Tool Belt get past code review?

Thanks for the positive vibe, though! Unfortunately a new PA member got to Master DE and then, after a week playing it,announced that it was a pointless profession that couldn't make anything useful. This was yesterday. *sigh* Nice revamp - you vamped all the blood right out of the Droid Engineer profession, SOE.

With all due respect to you and your PA mate, there is no possible way for someone to make master DE and then decide that all of the products we make are useless in a single week. Unless he's got an uber resources stash it unlikely that he could have even made most o the products we're capable of producing. Tell my doctor clients that my "physician" model droid with the 110 medical station and 10 items of storage space is useless. OR that my "Craftmatic" model R3 with weapon, food, structure, and clothing, 150 data schematic storage and 10 items storage is useless. OR that my CR300 "Bodyguard" model LE Repair Droid is useless. BHs find my seekers and Akryds plenty useful too.

Entertainers are already contacting me about the new droids with entertainer modules, so there are more sales on the horizon after publish 8 goes up.

There is plenty that a DE can sell that many players find useful. A good DE just has to make his target markets aware of what we have to offer them.

Chris

I got a stormtrooper the other day from the recruiter and his number was TK-422. Do you know him?

Seriously, don't tell us anything. I have come to the realization that I would rather not hear any information and decide where I want to go after the publish comes out. If it is crap, then drop DE (or SWG entirely) and move on. If not, then I will be pleasently surprised. And if any of our opinions are wanted, then SOE will ask TK and TK will ask us. I haven't seen squat that says whatever we argue about on this or that thread has any impact or is being read.
