"- Droid pets will suffer vitality loss the same as CH pets do (instead of permanent death)"
Yes, that's all. I know, the patch list for the test server is not final and they may add or remove things. But, to be honest, I'm more than a little bit disapointed.

Look on the bright side. They added something, they did not take anything away.

"Droid pets"

I think that one little 2-word phrase just about sums up the core reason for our many problems and neglect.

Sight.
I guess you are right. But I can't deny it, I feel a little bit ignored.

Isn't the removal of permadeath a good thing?

Granted, it's not much, but isn't this one of the things we wanted? Why aren't people cheering?

After reading this:

Some professions are getting shorter shrift than others. In some cases, it's because we judged the priority level to be lower relative to other professions (weaponsmith, for example). In other cases, it's because we're still working on what we can do and what more fixes we can add (droid engineer, for example). In other cases, it's because the stuff we want to do is fairly extensive and it won't make the cutoff for this update (squad leader).

and this:

A lot of fixes went in the last update for the DE’s, so we haven’t had too much chance to do more yet.

I now understand our problem. They really a) have no clue what they're going to do to fix the DE class and b) aren't too worried about it at the moment. Other issues are much more important. I'm sorry, but I don't think the fixes they put in last patch were so wonderful that they could stop worry about us for a while (which is basically what he's saying).

Of course, he then follows up the previous quote with this:

We realize you guys still need a lot of lovin’ on the profession just in terms of bugs to look at, and we’re using Gorantoth’s list as something to march down. But the DE bugs are proving to be pesky critters that are hard to stomp.

Basically saying "We've fixed a ton of bugs so you guys should be happy for now", followed by "you have tons of problems and need tons of bug fixes". Intersting.

Bottom line, no point in whining, bitching, posting or even worrying about our class for a good month. Then, maybe, in a month or so they'll be ready to read our forum and figure out what we need.

I'm happy to actually now KNOW that we won't be getting any attention for a while. I am grateful for that bit of information. I guess I'll just keep working the DE treadmill hoping that its all going to be worth it in the end. (I honestly still do have the hope)

Exactly.

You know what? I became a DE full well knowing exactly what state the profession was in, and OK with that for the time being.

It was when they permadeathed us that my business suffered, and crippled us.

Now, they have fixed that one thing - and I'm back to where I was - except now Probots will eventually die, which does mean repeat purchases.

Am I satisified with the treatment of DE's? Not at all - still pretty disgusted.

Do I think this profession needs a lot of work? Of course.

But I am gaining back a functionality - enhanced from before - and that's where my main problem was.

It may be selfish, but so be it - I care how it affects me and my game, and this change is for the better (and better then it was before).

I'm not letting them off the hook at all, as some people would have you believe - I'm simply happy that something I wanted desperately is being done.

This is honestly more then I ever expected this quickly, and will add to my bank balance considerably.

Anyone have a clue as to how this will fit in with the "Vitality Changes"?

My guess is you get 5 incaps?

Probably not. Seekers and Arakyds didn't come on deeds like the rest of the droids do.

Thats 5 charges to Probe Bots (the araknyd bounty hunter ones) I'd have to believe.

Yes they gave us one crumb back... no more insta-death. But the net changes since the game started is that we have lost nealry 1/4 of droid health, and 80 damage on our best combat droids.

There's one huge change being made that in my opinion trumps the advantages of no more droid death:

Data droids wont store pets? I'm outraged at this because these modules serve no use except to store schematics and pets. Make the pets volume increase or limit the number per droid to something more reasonable then. So many bugs and horrible changes are introduced every change SOE makes to skimp on database space.

The droids we make now have a vitality counter. What does that do? And any word on when coloring droids will be fixed. The chassis i make look really cool. Like the black and red R2 sitting in my shop.
