Ok, info is already leaking out about the Mandalorian armor and so I figured I'd give a clear picture of what is currently known. I was in a group this morning (along with Ell' Kabong, Me-ke, and two nice people we picked up along but whose names elude me) that managed to penetrate a fair amount of the way into the new Death Watch Hideout where we were able to pick up some tidbits on Mandalorian armor.
*** WARNING *** SPOILERS! ***
Also be warned that Test is volatile and changes do happen. This may not be exactly what hits live (in fact I already see a patch note about the NPC that gave us this info). Anyway, here's what I know:
The source for this information is a poor fellow, an enslaved technician working in the Hideout. Here's what he had to say:
General notes about the Death Watch Hideout thus far: it rocks. It's a ton of fun. It's also huge. We've only explored a small fraction of it. That part has been fairly challenging and has had a cool story and all that. TC has been incredibly unstable of late. This has prevented us from really digging deeply into the place (as the zones keep dropping, more often than every half hour with 10+ people around). IMO, this is definitely the coolest new content added yet and I can say that without having seen the rest. To stress how huge it is, just standing on top of the place you can see what must be at least 200 red dots.

Also be warned that Test is volatile and changes do happen. This may not be exactly what hits live (in fact I already see a patch note about the NPC that gave us this info). Anyway, here's what I know:
- Droid Engineers are involved, but they're not the only crafting profession.
- Tailors and Armorsmithss also get to craft parts of the armor (although it doesn't sound like you will have to have all 3 at once).
- Yes you have to go into the hideout yourself.
- Droid Engineers don't make all the armor, just certain pieces (the bracers and helmet). The other pieces are made by the other professions.
- The Mandalorian armor will require a base piece of Bounty Hunter armor, some Alum obtained in the mines that are part of the hideout and two chemical elements (location as yet unknown).
The source for this information is a poor fellow, an enslaved technician working in the Hideout. Here's what he had to say:
- The overview.
- Who makes the bracers and helmet? (for the bracer/helmet part of the discussion, this actually says "Master Droid Engineer" instead of "Master Armorsmith" -- I simply didn't get a screenshot of this version of the conversation)
- What do you need.
- And then what?
- What happens if you fail.

sounds...very...cool
I like the "spreading-around" of the profession requirements. It adds to the MM of MMORPG.

Your screenshots say something about droids lower in the caves. However, nothing about needing a Engineer. I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I'd like to see what did make you think we were involved.
(possibly take me with you when the server stabilizes?)

Is the cave instanced like the corvette? Or is it a free for all... camp fest... when it hits live like the Geo Cave?

Ahh, sorry, I'll go edit my above post (it was meant to cover this). The "who makes this" screenshot was from the Armorsmith branch of the conversation (for chest, biceps, boots). If you follow the branch of the conversation for the helmet and bracers you get exactly the same information, only it says "master droid engineer" instead of "master armorsmith". I just didn't get a screenshot of the one for DE's (although I do have one of the Tailor version if you really want to see it
).

That makes much more sense, thank you.

why must everthing in this game be set in a cave?
It's actually a bunker with part of the bunker leading into a cave system. I've been calling it caves (perhaps due to the other ones), but it's not really. As I understand it, they are actually mining Alum in that section of the outpost (one of the components for the Mandalorian armor).

Any ideas whatthose chemicals might be and if they're already existing in-game?

I like it.
