Heh, and I was just coming to the forum to post this very thing...

Still not enough of a reason to spend $30, though. It's a shame -- I'm buying it for one account, but can't justify it for the other. I want to have a reason to buy it, but SOE hasn't given me one yet.

Just get the crafter rewards with your combat toon (provided you have one ), and give 'em to your crafter.

My thought exactly.

It does absolutely nothing as far as anyone can tell. The original intent of assembly skill was to grant you your schematics before they put all the schems into skill trees as they are now. Thus, if you had higher assembly skill, you could gain access to schematics earlier as you worked up the tree. Even then, it was a useless skill when you hit master.

In beta that all got removed, and supposedly it now affects how often you crit fail. I have never once seen anyone have any proof, or have dev confirmation, that it actually occurs. In any case, as a master you fail so infrequently it's usually inconsequential; especially if you use factories to produce most of your parts.

It's nice to be thought of, but something like experimentation or...gasp!...a new chassis since the droid factory is on Mustafar, would have been nice.

I beilive you are thinking of complexity... assembly effects your assemble role, your assembly role effetcs how well you experiments go... and I beilive they completely removed critical failures from the game. Not 100% positive, but pretty sure. The worst assembly you can get is a failure (where its still there but your experiments will be horrible), next is a moderate sucess, great sucess, and amazing... and finally the sought after Critical sucess. Same "titles" as expermentations, however they affect you expermentation roles. So if you get an amazing sucess assembly your experments will have a higher chance of beeing amazing.

My apologies; you are correct.

I did confuse them, because neither of them ever held any relevance when I was crafting. As a DE, we have so few products that have experimentation period, and many fewer that have multi-line experimentation. I also did mostly factory work, which meant if one went bad (rarely) I just cancelled and did another one until I got what I wanted for the schematic.

Thanks for the correction!

Critical Failures are still in the game. I got a couple last night. The thing that was changed with them though, is that you can still recover from it.

Critical Failure Before = The line you were experimenting on reduces to 0%. More experimenting on that line does nothing to improve it.

Critical Failure Now = Slight reduction to the line you're experimenting on. Adding more experiment points to that line can still be increased after the critical failure.
