Thread: Give DEs The CH Pet Buffing Ability For Use On Droids

Here's a suggestion:As aperk to the DE professtion, give DEs the same or similar pet buffing ability that CHs currently have. For those who object to to DE-only perks, how about this: DEs would be able to buff other droids as well. Perhaps this skill would require using consumable components in either instance. Or perhaps it could be done with some kind of hot-wiring toolkit. What do you all think?

I have no problem with this being a DE-only ability, but if that's too much of a biggie for others perhaps we could build consensus aroundDEs being able to buff other peoples' droids as well as their own. Might make for a nice revenue stream at the local cantina (or droid shop if we ever get one for player cities!).

(Background: CHs can buff their pets to temporarily improve HAM and damage. Someone pls correct me on this if I'm wrong or add additional info. The ability currently works on probots as well, giving CHs the best droids in the game.)

I think being able to buff droids (prefferably yours and any one else in the groups) would be a great addition. It would essentially be jurry rigging the droid. I think one thing that might make this a bit easier or dynamic would be to make it drain battery power quicker (assuming the normal rate is changed to a reasonable level) or give it some chance of not following you're commands for random, short time intervals. Neither of these should be something to the point that it makes it not worth using, but just something to add a little surprise or flavor to it.

Assuming battery drain is returned to its previous rate for non-buffed droids, an accelerated battery drain rate might be a good balance or limitationfor DE-buffed droids.

LOL -- it sounds like they introduced the quick battery drain and failure to respond FIRST... We'll get the jury-rigging later!

Not sure exactly what buffing you are talking about. I have two different CHs and neither one has any creature buffs, unless you are talking about getting doctor buffs for your creatures. If that is the case, then DE buffs for droids sounds comparable, and should probably be worked in to the system.

why?

  • so would a weaponsmith be able to "buff" everyones weapons?

  • armorsmith "buff" armor?

Ya ever heard of powerups?

Sodan-droiddreamer,

thanks, now I know what you were refering to. Yes there is a high level, not master, skill called enrage. I have never used it myself, and have only heard a few people talk about it, mostly negatively. I think it was bugged for a long time. Not sure if it is fixed now or not.

Ah, I'm starting to understand now. You're ok with artisans making powerups for your weapons, but it bothers you if DEs -- most of whom are master artisans -- are able to do the same for their droids. Gotcha.

I have a MCH as a RL brother and some friends that are MCH. Enrage has not worked like it is supposed to. In fact it is a waste. The CH takes the HAM hit but no change to the pet. There was talk or fixxing it but it isn't some thng most CHs care about since you can put Doc buffs on a Pet.

As for a buff for Droids I think the needs to be some thing that gives them a buff to attack speed, armor, resists and/or dmage. I think Droids should have the heavier armor and Pets the more HAMs. Makes them more balanced out and useful in diffrent places. My personel experince is that armor and Resistsis more important then HAM any day.

Cool thanks. Included in my proposal is the assumption that the buffs/powerups would actually work!

The nice thing about my proposal is that it's a DE-only perk in the sense that only we can do it and that we can do it for our own droids all the time, BUT also anyone can get their droids buffs by us as well. Extra $$$ for sales and a disensentive for the powergamers to lvl up in DE just for the droids.

I have no problem with droid eng, MAKING anything..i do have a problem with making them Droid Handlers, the request was for CH style buffs not powerups

It's not DE's that need anything, it's the droids that need fixing.
