Okay, I hear that it takes a Merchant with Advertising 4 to program one of those new merchant ad barking droids ? I have advertising 2 and no skill pts left and really don't want to drop anything, even temp, to get ad 4. Anyone on Intrepid who wants to do the honours for me ?

Even if someone programmed it for you, once they transferred it back to you you wouldn't get the option to enable the barking.

Ya, found that out last night. I had made a protocol droid with a merchant barker and sold it to a weaponsmith. We then had a person with ADV 4 program it. The weaponsmith could not use it. Thats a real bummer because I was hoping to sell a lot of these droids with the merchant barker module.

Aye, definitely Advertising IV.
Also, there is a problem with barking droids that has been pointed out on this forum - linked to the speederbike autostoring bug - I'd have a look for that thread if I were you, vital reading if you intend to use a barker droid.

Nah, still happening for me. I've taken to grouping with my droid (Bullet, the Weaponsmith Droid!), setting him on a wee patrol around the entrance to the Mos Eisley Starport yelling his little speakers off and then disappearing to do my own thing.
Managed to get 2 hours out of him yesterday before I climbed off my speederbike, it autostored, and I immediately got the message that my group had been disbanded.
Was bloody miles away from M.E., too, couldn't just quickly pop back and whip Bullet out again.

Yep, this is the main reason why I dont make merchant barkers unless someone requests it specifically.
It is a huge handicap for a module that otherwise would be extremely useful.

I was so entertained when I first operated my barker droid....but the autostore and the very short battery life made it too aggravating to use. The barker droid is a wonderful idea and it should not take lont to fix the issues with it, but I guess that will wait until JTLS, Combat Rebalance, smuggler rebalance, etc.

Is there much point to these, they log off as soon as you do so you may as well just afk spam.
I made one thinking it would stay while I was offline at least while the battery lasted!

If you were doing other things that required your time then it would be beneficial. Such as raising a friends merchant exp with a macro or something. Limited uses yes, but it cuts down on the spam floating around.
