Now I know that experimentation is broken and I was wondering if its going to be fixed or not.

If I'm correct, it's not actually broken.

It just doesn't do very much.

Of course, I do hope that they change that!

If anyone has any conflicting info, please post.

What I intrpreted is that it will not be totally fixed. But experimention for the Combat Modules will work.

Then again I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time will not be the last time.

Ok, I"m just starting DE with one of my characters, and not gotten past novice yet. What is the problem with experimentation?

right now, in DE, experimentation has no meaningful affect on the quality of the components we produce, except when experimenting on the low to mid level modules or when experimenting on droid storage compartments (used by architects).

but it looks like this might be addressed in one of the upcoming publishes.

I have just been browsing the TH posts for the various changes in Pub7 and I think I'm getting worried.

From what I could surmise so far, the new combat droids will be roughly the same capability as the old combat droids..but just a whole lot more complex to make..... which is bad enough by itself.

And then as I said I went a-reading about the new crafting/experimentation changes in Pub7

The nett result of my reading leads me to a conclusion that in fact the new combat droids will actually be lower ability than current Droids..because of these crafting changes.

If anyone can see why this is not going to be so..please tell me.

that is entirely possible. but the thing I think needs being kept in mind is that the current combat droids are a little bit more powerful than even the most powerful non-CH pets, and that the only reason they are horribly inneffective is because they cannot be healed. Adding the damage repair kit will alleviate that problem. That repair kit, I have begun to realize is far more important than any changes in the combat abilities of our droids at the current time.

That is undeniably true.

But it does look rather like it would be better to have crates of Pub6 probots and use the new healing abilities on those..no? And if that is indeed the case, then all the development that has gone into these new combat modules and crafting changes has done us not one ounce of good..in fact quite the reverse.

This means I have a reason to master DE than to dabble in it (I've been at 4304 for forever now since I could make anything masters can make)

Haha, fortunately the no-camp thing will hit at the same time so I have exactly enough skill points if I drop scout and 1st box of terrain negotiation to master DE. Everything is working out so conveniently...

Exactly, which is why I'm pulling out all the stops, set up six factories, and am finally using up those millions of resources I've been holding on to.

As to the topic, as a master the only thing that I ever experiment on is final Probot deeds to get that whole extra 5-10 HAM. Nothing else has any effect at that level, if you are using native Level 6 modules.

Actually, it probably is good for the profession as a whole if a Master DE can actually make better combat droids than me. I am only 4/3/1/4 and my droids have been just as good as any master's droids for a long time. that is a problem, and if they take a step towards addressing that then I think it is a good step.

Experimentating would be good on some of the parts of the droid like ham and the damage output but we dont sell as many droids and WS weapons and AS armor and since the droids dont decay experiametating would be worse to use becuase we would h+ave to look for good resources and not selling as many items as other professions it would be pointless to do it. Whats your opinion?
