Hi all, I never really introduced myself here on the doc forums, just kinda started posting. My name is Seepatay and Im a master doc/tkm on Kauri. Im wondering if you guys ever offer to go out with hunting groups, or if it's something that other players are even interested in. So far my experience has just been going out hunting with friends and keeping them alive, it works out well because I can talk trash in between heals hehe

If there are docs who have had success in going out with random parties, could you elaborate on the process? There are so many variables involved I'm curious as to how you charge and what range of services beyond healing are included in the price. For example, if someonehired you as a doc would you buff the party before leaving, heal and rez (and rebuff)?

One would think that ifanybody died that would be a reflection on the doc for not healing, but what if you get stuck with people who shouldnt be killing womp rats let alonedune kimogilas? It sounds like fun and it would be a welcome change of scenery. Assuming there is any sort of demand for it.

Hi!

As a Doc, I used to be in demand in the old days when group hunting was the main activity...

Now, with 90% comp and buffs a lot of people can get by without a doc, but when the Combat Upgrade comes, I expect to see a whole lot of demand for the services of a doc on big hunts!

Normally, Docs go out with their guilds and don't charge as there is a kind of, we bring you resources, you heal us trade-off, but it would be interesting to see if this changes after the Combat Upgrade too.

People always die on big hunts, but as long as you have enough Rez pack and can get to people quick, no one should mind... But if you run out of buffs packs...

Good luck!

i hunt with my guildies a lot, but only vs the high end stuff i actually look at the ham bars and heal.

oh and btw, there is nothing we can do about mind damage andwounds, so a player dieing does not nessisarily mean you not a good doc.

(as a side note, i looted a 193 power damage stim, med use 49. when i used it on a kryat tank, it healed for 419 (mind) damage i am still looking for another one like that)

i remmeber though a few months ago i was in AH, and was invited by a noob group to hunt. i said sure.

I had a blast, they were dieing left and right at the paws of mountain squils... and when a guy bit off more than he can chew, a few shots from my t-21 helped... i was not able to keep up the heals of course they didint even say ty at the end /shrug...

I hate to say this, but "back in the old days...." By old days I mean before 80% kinetic armor, buffs, super stim-b's, and overpowering weapons. When I was first starting out (before I even mastered Doctor), I got invited on hunt parties all the time since most hunt parties were doomed to die unless they had a healer. Nobody went to Endor or Dathomir without 20 people and at least 3 or 4 Medics.

Now, it's harder to find a group that wants to take a Doctor along, unless they're hunting something big (DWB, Krayts, Geo Caves, etc...). Most groups just want their buffs and they're off. If you want to be a healer for a group, I would suggest going for MD/MCM as this makes you the ultimate healer both during and after combat. You can always put up your /lfg tag to signal that you're looking for a group.

I hope this comes back into fashion again because it used to be great fun and good xp for a novice doc.

Tried it with a bunch of new players a while back on a Mountain Squill hunt, just like the old days they were running round like headless chickens so I'd spend the whole time shouting "come back and get within 7m". Also, I wasn't prepared for the amount of stims those guys soaked up, so I was having to craft ABECs ACDRMs and ALSs to make the stim C's as we went along cos I left all my subcomponents at home.

Still it was great fun but I doubt it'll ever be a way for docs to earngood money/loot unless it's the DWB or something.

Being a Master Rifleman/Master Doc, I get invited to groups several times a week. Jedi Quests, NS stronghold, Geo Caves. Some veteran Docs have told me that having a Doctor along seems to be coming back into play. Good.

As master doc/master CM, I try to tag along with hunt groups as often as I can. Even though I'm starting the FS grind and could really use the combat XP, I usually just sit in the back. I let the tanks take the aggro and then spam area poison/disease and keep everyone healed from there on out with ranged/area stims. If I get aggro, I just /peace and keep throwing the goods. I go through quite a fewstimpacks (both regular stim E's and area stim C's) on the average outing, and depending on what we're hunting I can burn through a lot of poison too.

My guild leader asked me last night why I hadn't broken my template to drop cm or doc so I could take up more rifles. The answer is simple, I like what I do! The way I see it, there's nothing I can't fix (and a lot of it I can fix from 30+ meters away). I buff for cash, I'm starting to craft meds and poisons, and I only see the rifle as the finishing touch to take that one last point away if I'm too lazy to wait for the disease to tick. I can keep myself healed up pretty well in almost any situation; however, I can not solo high end mobs by myself yet. Plainly put, I die. That's about the only thing wrong with my template. Other than that, I enjoy hunting with groups and can deal out some pretty respectable damage in both PvE and PvP (even with just my store-bought poisons). Nevertheless, I still see my main job on the group hunt as keeping everyone healed/buffed/alive so they can concentrate on wasting that high HAM loot dropper.

I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot more of this after the CU.

"Yippee!!"- Darth Vader (Episode 1)

Rofl your sig cracks me up!!

I feel you on the whole headless chicken thing, that drives nuts lol. I was with a group that ran into Gorax on Endor once so we hurried up and buffed and jammed out there to kill them. I had plenty of rez packs and stim e's so I thought we were cool. Being tkm I wasnt worried about the melee people that would be next to me, but the ranged. There were only 5 of us so I was pretty sure I was going to be spamming that unarmed hit3 along with heals. So I told them on the way if your ham gets low and your 60m out, you need to start makin your way over to me.

Did they? no! Of course not lol!! And these are master pistoleer, bh, carbineer, you name it, who know the drill already. Groupchat was full of people freaking out and the gorax was aggro'd on me the whole time...it was doc d-day and sh!t. If it wasnt for the swordsman that was able to tank while I ran and rezzed we would've all died I think.

Good times! Im hoping the cu makes it possible to do more often!

Right on all, thanks for the replies. We need to start athread on noob hunting party stories hehe. I really hope the cu puts us in a position to go out hunting with groups again! I think people who havnt done it dont know what they are missing! All the people out there with doc friends to hunt with are spoiled atm lol.

For ts and my guild (and imp PvP'ers) I do what I can for free.If we become needed again for groups regularly I would probably use that as a source of income since I hate crafting with a burning passion!

For all the cm's that responded, I want to try that so badly! I just dont want to lose doc or tk...Im greedy I guess. Im going to wait and see how the cu goes before Ilose mycombat prof anyway I think. To be honest I think it would be really cool to get like 4 friends together for cm. Then we could all go out with our scout leader and throw mind poison like candy to the gank jedi squads and burstrun to freedom. Its just a dream though!
