Thread: A Tipping idea I have been kicking around

I have been thinking about this for some time, feel free to flame if you want, it is just an idea...

What about using the already implemented "Insurance System" and in some way linking it to the med center. I am not sure if this would actually work but it would end up being something like an HMO plan where the customer pays the insurance, monthly/weekly/daily (doesn’t really matter to me) and then when a specific medic heals them they get paid from the insurance pool for that customer for the work done. I am just trying to think of a way that medics can get paid short of replying on the “good will” of their customers, cause lets face it, that’s not how it works in the real world at all…

Anyway I think some system really does need to be implemented to take the optional tip out of the game since a lot of people don’t seem to think that they ought to pay for something if they are not forced too. Dont get me wrong though... some people seem to be very generous

This seems like an interesting idea, however I would be afraid that ultimately it might prevent me as a medic/doc from healing someone who had not purchased a medical policy. Free/tip healing should always be allowed. When I need cash I go to an Imperial town and work on the non-TEF'ed Imps, who, at least on Tempest, seem to tip much better than the rebs. For my opinion about the TEF system's implications for neutral medics/docs, see the Dev Forum.

I like this idea (thinks about post from a month ago), but a lot of people think that it would be used wrongly, or somethign to that matter...

as to people that think it would be a bad idea b/c than people wouldnt heal when they dont have a plan...hows that different from real life? you go to a hospital or a doctor, and dont have money, you get no treatment. personally i think it would stop people from going to a med center and expecting speedy treatment for wounds only in the 20's or so...they would wait till it was worth going to get it fixed...and spending money

it doesnt have to a be a large amount of money, maybe 1 credit per wound, or just a flat fee of 200 credits, or something to that matter...

these are just ideas, and the system would take a lot of work, but for the new doctor/medic it would solve massive money issues.

theres my two cents on the issue
