Thread: Crafting advice needed
Can anyone comment on the following? I am a Master Doctor/Combat Medic. I havnt done much crafting except to grind my way up the crafting trees in both professions. I am now looking to aquire some resources to make better quality items.
1) Does the experimentation on sub components affect the overall quality of enhance/stims/wound etc.
2) Does the quality of ingredients on sub components affect the overall quality of enhance/stims/wound etc.
Can someone suggest the differences in making any item (Enhance Health D perhaps) under the following circumstances? (feel free to make some guesses.. I am just trying to get a feel for what is important).
Made using basic sub components and average resources (oq 500ish)
Made using basic sub components and high quality resources (oq 900ish)
Made using advanced sub components and average resources (oq 500ish)
Made using advanced sub components and high quality resources (oq 900ish)
Thanks much!
I can't give you exact figures, but I know that using higher quality componants and experimenting does make for much better sub componants, and using better subcomponants does make for better meds.

In a nutshell...(forgive spelling errors please...)
Advanced components do increase the overall quality of the resulting product. Here is what you are looking for:
Charges: This is found on regular and advanced Bio Effect Controllers. The higher the number, the more charges it gets.
Power: This is found on all components including Adv Bio Effect Controller. This affects the Heal Damage rating on stems, heal wound rating on wound packs, etc...
---------
High quality ingredients increase the quality of the components and the final assembly.Better resources will result inhigherpower ratings and more charges. First some info you need to know. Overall quality affects everything in crafting. Potential Energy relates to power, Unit Toughness to charges, and Decay rating affects duration (only applies to enhancements to my knowledge)
Here is what you are looking for:
Advanced Bio Effect Controllers : You will want the organic to have a high Overall Quality and Potential Energy - You want an inorganic with High Overall Quality and Unit Toughness. In both cases, the Overall quality is twice as important as the second resource attribute.
Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechanism : You will want the organic to have a high Overall Quality and Potential Energy - You want an inorganic with High Overall Quality. Unit toughness does not matter as this ingredient does not affect overall charges.
AdvancedLiquid Suspension: same as Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechanism
Advanced Solid Delivery Shell : same as Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechanism
All Stems - same as Advanced Bio Effect Controllers
All Wound Packs - same as Advanced Bio Effect Controllers
All Enhance Packs -You will want the organic to have a high Overall Quality and Potential Energy - You want an inorganic with High Overall Quality, Unit Toughness, and Decay Resistance. The Overall Quality is still the most important in each ingredient.
I hope this helpes some Doc's out there.

Sorry, I left one answer out. I can only tell you what I have managed so far with the Enhance D pack, as I don't make anything with Low quality components anymore. With good quality Advanced Bio Effecto Controllers, Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechanisms, Advanced Solid Delivery Shells, Avian Meat with Overall Quality950+ and Potential Energy 600+, and Reactive Gas with 820+ Overall quality, most of my enhance packs have a rating of 750-850 with a 10000+ duration (lasts about 2 and 1/2 hours) and 20-28 charges. In the hands of a Master Doctor, I have enhanced up to 2600 with this level of pack. Hope this is also beneficial. Thanks.

It's a classic throey - better ingredients make a better soup.
The results of your final product (let's say an health echancement pack D for example) is based on a couple things, the quality of the ingredients and your experimentation success on it. Now, there's little than can be done for the avian meat or reactvie gas. All you can do is fine the stuff with the highest overall quality and potential energy out there.
However, the subcomponents that you use (BEC, CRDM, and SDS) all hold to the same rule. If you use good resources to make those and have high experimentation success, you'll create better subcomponents. The better those subcomponents are, the better your final product is going to be. It's just that simple. So, even though you don't add Lokian Wild Wheat to the schematic for a Health Enhancement D, you do add it to the biological effect controller that you put into that enhancement so the quality of that wheat plays a significant role in the quality of your enhancement pack.
