Hello!
I'm Kwiz and play at the Starsider server. I'm usually not active at the Doctor forum, but I feel it's time to participate, as a Doctor is the only thing I am and want to be.
Recently I was asked to do a short "Crafting Guide for Dummies" on enhancementpacks.
The guide can be found here:
I would be glad if anyone would give me some feedback on it. What it should contain, shouldn't, and other comments on the content.
Most sincerly,
Dr. Kwiz Haaderak.

Good general guide! You might want to put in a link to the Doc FAQ about how the 50/50 vs 66/33 component quality works, but it's good.
One other thing: you don't have to only do 2 experimentation points, it really makes no difference. You can experiment with 6 points and if you get a great result you still get a 7% increase per experimentationpoint, same as if you did 2 at a time. Doing 2 at a time will only help out if you get a crit fail, since a crit fail will decrease your item by 7% (I think) for each experimentation point. So if you get a crit fail with 2 experimentation points the item may still be salvageable, but with 6, forget it, start over

Very nice guide (coming from a up-and-and coming crafter). Specifically, I like the subcomponent section, which givesexamples of what valuestoshoot forwith the subcomponents (something I had planned to post about prior to reading your guide).

Thanks for the replies!
About the experimentation points...
I've experienced a worse outcome when doing all at a time instead of just 2. This "worse outcome" force me to start the crafting process all over again, as the schematic turns out worse that its potential were. We're speaking 10-20 points difference, and that's quite a bit on enhancement packs.
It may also be me jumping to quick solutions, as i've not tested this throughugly.

The only thing I do a little different is use non advance CRDM in my action packs. Since I can use much better orgs and inorgs for the avian and gas the lower quality CRDM balance things out and saves me some meat and class 4.

With enhance packs, you are experimenting both power and duration with effectiveness points. There are actually "two experiments" going on, but what you see is an average of the two results. I.e. when you experimented all points at once, you probably got a "good" success on power and a "great" or "amazing" success on duration. This will show up as a "great" success in the prompt. Both duration and power have a maximum that can be attained with certain resources. This maximum isn't any different based on the amount of points done in each experimenting session. In the example I mentioned above, you may just not hit the maximum because of a good/amazing combo instead of the great/great.
Personally, I experiment as much as possible on one line, no more than 5 points. I'm sure everyone has their preference, but I'd rather run 3 or 4 experiments than 12, if only for sanity sake. /shrug

Alright, I removed the information on 2 experimentpoints only. Seems like this is not really neccessary to get good buff packs, and people should be allowed to make their own preferences
Also, I realised my explanation on the 50/50 33/66 rule was a bit vague, but I was unable to find a spesific part to throw a link to the Doctor's FAQ. I removed it for now, and try to study some to come up with a more understandable explanation soon.

From someone who after becoming a Master Doc swore they'd never craft again I have to say your guide was very enlightening. Alot of the vague details I didn't understand became a little clearer. I think I'm going to try and make some of my own meds.
