Thread: poll: What would be a good next question?

I've cut and pasted the list of questions from previously. I'm wondering if there's any point to ask the questions as they're listed. Based on TH's responses on 5-26-04 I've listed what I would anticipate the responses to be on each of the questions.



  1. Why do we gain Schematics for poison and disease cures (as well as A buffs) so far before we will ever have the med XP to use them (Cure Poison A is at novice doc)? Many schematics are never used, because by the time we get the medical XP to use the "/ skills" (/curepoison, /curedisease and /healenhance.. especially /curedisease) we can usually make B/C packs of the appropriate type. That's just how it is.
  2. Why do Action Buff packs use different materials then all the rest? Could we get this standardized one way or the other? There are currently no plans to make changes to this, but we'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed
  3. What ever happened to usage XP and Factory XP? These two things are important to Docs, because we can sell Factory crafted components to other players (most notably BEs for pet stims) for some XP this way to help us with our steep crafting XP requirements without grinding. Both of these XP methods have been broken (or at least highly inconsistent for a long time. This was taken out for game balance reasons. There are currently no plans to make changes to this, but we'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed
  4. What was the intention for the buffing system? Were doctors expected to use A-C buffs? What happened to those reasons? Expect this to change after the Combat Balance
  5. Are there any plans to provide more incentive for Mastering the profession? We'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed
  6. Melee combatants got their ranges increased due to the server/client distance margin of error, could medical players (including docs) have a small increase (not to step on CM ranged heals) to allow us to heal people that appear to be very close to us, but are out of range due to the margin of error? There are currently no plans to make changes to this, but we'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed
  7. Are NPC/Player Hospitals and Factional Detachment Centers supposed to provide healing bonuses, and if so are they working as intended? Working as intended (trust me)
  8. Currently a Doctor that heals a TEFed player gets ejected from all structures, public or private, including NPC hospitals. Can this be tweaked in anyway? There are currently no plans to make changes to this, but we'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed
  9. Why are there no upper level quests for docs to craft something fun like the RISC armor for armorsmiths? We are always looking to enhance a profession and we agree Docs need this. However, There are currently no plans to make changes to this, but we'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed
  10. What is a doctor's role in the space expansion? That's currently under development but rest assured that we view every profession as important (see what we did with ID?)
  11. Can we get Faction Points for healing? Nope
  12. Why are birds on Endor herbivore meat and not avian, and why are there no avians on Endor nor Dantooine? (Real answer) That's just how it is.
  13. Are there any plans to introduce an AOE cure to poison and diseses or some other counter? There are currently no plans to make changes to this, but we'll be revisiting all professions after GCW and Jump to Lightspeed

So, I guess my point is. Based on the last response to 19 Answers...yes/no questions don't seem to be the way to go because the answer is just going to be either "No, we're not going to do that til after GCW" or "Yes, we want to do that, but it won't be til after GCW".


Questions asking for explanations don't seem to be doing that great because the response is either a blatant dodge (see the original architect question) or a non-answer like "this is being looked at".


So does anyone have some ideas for questions that would be 1) Hard to dodge and 2) Won't be answered "wait til after GCW"?

I think the most solid question you could ask would be something like.

Will the combat revamp alter buffs by changing what they buff, or the effectiveness and/or duration of said buffs?


Still a chance he could give you a wait and see answer, but I'd say if he does he's just being an ass. I'm sure they have some ideas of whats going to happen floating around by now, and your not asking for specifics, just "what should we expect"

I think they just have a general feeling of "we need to nerf the **edit** out of something". I would agree that they very possibly have not decided on the full extent of the nerf.


The more I think about it, the more I think there's NO question we can ask that can't be dodged with a "wait til after GCW/Combat Revamp/JTL".
